General / Off-Topic Two Point Studios & Two Points Hospital

Some really big news is coming out of the wood work for us Sim fans. A new studio called Two Point Studios made up of former BullFrog, and Lionhead Studios employees opened up. And their first game is the spiritual successor to Theme Hospital. The studio promises to bring the charm the older 90s sim games from both studios were known for. Personally im beyond excited about this news. I loved both studios dearly and I hope to see some wonderful work come from the team. Its being published by Sega and despite my opinion on Sega, their PC publishing has been really on point over the last few years.

On a side note it appears there maybe locked off features in a pass. A worry issue for me for certain.....

I cut my teeth on games like Theme Hospital so I'm curious to see how this turns out. I've been looking forward to a similar game in the genre - Project Hospital which is aiming to be a more "realistic" hospital game. What draws me to that is the developers focus on making what sounds like an in-depth and complete management/strategy game that I crave so much!

Looking at Two Point Hospital I can say I like the look of the art style, I'm a big fan of stylised graphics like that and Planet Coaster rather than them trying to go for realistic graphics purely because I think the games always age better. Theme Hospital was a simplistic game at its core that relied heavily on the humour to keep it as entertaining as it was; If this game is going to be a modern Theme Hospital they're going to need to make sure that aspect of it is on point! Either way I'm looking forward to this, 2018 is looking to be a good year for games (well, for me at least [wink]).

The pass feature doesn't actually cost anything by the looks of it - it simply requires signing up for their newsletter by the looks of it (as I've already done).

I'm also following it with interest as well.

I will definitely be purchasing the game, I admit I was put off with Planet Coasters graphics initially as I wanted a more realistic approach but I now love them. I am just hankering for a more management focused game, with modern ish graphics. (stuff like Prison Architect and Rimworld just don't do any thing for me, mainly because of the graphics).

There is a market for mid-tier games, but they need to have good post release support, you only have to look a Planet Coaster or the Paradox games, or even No Man's Sky (never owned the game) but it has come leaps and bounds. Hopefully being published by Sega you will get that.

While I'd love photo-realistic games, i think the continuing on pooring demand for games like Planet Coaster, on less powerful hardware such as consoles. I feel like sim games that hope to be successful will have to work on a less graphically demanading style that can still please the eyes in some way. In hopes to be brought to much larger broader audience

Doubt it for two reasons. One I dont believe have themed items for a hospital game would have much worth. And two Sega has been publishing a lot of PC focused games none of the others have had any. Anything is possible however...
