Two Simple Suggestions

I assume these are simple.

  1. Is it possible to add a binding option for the System Map control? It works exactly the opposite of the way I feel it should (although it might be perfect for everyone else).
For example, if one is flying and wants to tip the nose 'down', one pushes the stick forward. To bring the nose 'up', one pulls the stick back
On the System Map, the stick is pulled back to go down and pushed forward to go up.

  2. In the FSS, when an object is discovered for the first time, an animation appears above the object and says something about it. However, it is replaced so quickly by the common discovery animation, it is impossible to catch what it says. Can we slow this down, or move it?
I work at a software development company. I'm often told by the developers my ideas of 'simple' aren't generally close to that. Hopefully, that's not the case here.

Thanks!

Hmm, for me using controller there are separate binds for store camera, for instance. I think (not 100% sure) there might be map controls buried in the settings too.

I use a first person shooter type control scheme; stick up is up, stick down is down. Good luck with your problem though.

See for me this sounds perfectly logical.

Situation one, flying, the joystick is emulating the rudder control of an aircraft flying, push forward nose down to go down, pull back nose up to go up....of course it's a space ship so you can travel in reverse, in which case pushing forward you will go up and pulling back you will go down, it's just rotating the ship around its center of mass.

Situation two, the system map, a flat 2D surface where the joystick is emulating a mouse for navigating the map, push the mouse towards the top of the mouse pad it goes up the screen, hence pushing the joystick forward, pulling back it moves to the bottom of the screen.

Of course I only use the mouse on the system map but most controls have an inverse option so it shouldn't be a big problem doing that, but I personally couldn't see why it would be necessary. We're all different I guess.

Oh yes, just a question, so you would the TheWonko TheSane?

You know if you are on a PC you can edit your controls. What it sounds like you need to go into Binding and adjust your controls.

As I said, it might be great for everyone else. Just, doesn't feel right to me. I mean, in the FSS, pull back to go up the screen and push away to go down the screen. And, it's similar in the galaxy map.

And, yes... that's the reference. I've used 'Wonko' as a tag online going back probably 25 years to a game called "Ultima" and online group for that game. All of my character names in World of Warcraft were Wonko-based. (My mage was Wonkocadabra and my priest was Fatherwonko... that kind of thing.)

And, my blog is www.outsidetheasylum.org which is updated almost never now.

He was one of my favorite characters in the HHGTTG series.

Yes, I do know that. I've made all kinds of changes to my controls. This one, however, doesn't seem to have its own binding.

Maybe bug report it. If anything they might point you in the right direction or add it to the bindings.

Yes like you my dual flight stick controls had all types of changes.
