Two Steams Accounts - Two ED:Horizons - Can't use separate launchers?

I just purchased a second copy of ED:Horizons for my secondary Steam Account. I can log in and out of Steam with my two different accounts and play two CMDRs. Its great!

What I can't seem to do is successfully setup separate launchers, because the newer version of ED:Horizons I just bought doesn't have a CD-Key (non-key game) in Steam like the first version of ED:Horizons I have for my primary Steam account. That one has a CD-kay and shows up in my primary Frontier account as my game.

My secondary Steam account is linked to a secondary Frontier account... but the game doesn't show up on Frontier. And, when I use my login credentials for my secondary Steam account using the ED Launcher, it says "invalid credentials"... and when I use the login for my secondary Frontier account - it sends me a verification code via email, but then says I must purchase or redeem Elite Dangerous to play. Well, I did that already ...

Like I said, I can load either commander as long as I go through logging in and out of Steam with my two accounts. I am also able to just use the ED Launcher without loading Steam to play my original ED CMDR. For whatever reason, I am unable to just use the launcher for my new ED account.

Am I missing something? Or does it just not allow that for "non-key" purchases through Steam?

Yeah, well... nevermind. I just saw this... which kinda sucks.

Can I use the standalone Elite Dangerous launcher if I purchased on Steam?

If you purchased the game via Steam, we recommend you launch the game via Steam.

Purchases after 15 April 2019 will not be able to use the standalone Elite Dangerous launcher to launch Elite. Purchases before this date will be able to use the standalone launcher to play Elite Dangerous.

I have one Factory (FD) game with the proper key and it runs stand-alone (without Steam running).
I have another (Steam) game like yours (No-Key Install) and it needs Steam running to work.
Both games find and use the same Bindings and Graphics settings.
But they do create unique identities, pilot names, and operate independently of one another.
Both can be uniquely identified by INARA and separate logins to Inara keep the identities separate.
Both games can operate on the same machine at the same time. I can toggle from one to the other during play.

To start both, I must start one, complete the launcher, close that launcher, open Steam, start the other launcher, complete that launch, and then close that launcher as well (just for neatness).

As long as the subject of launcher is here, though I'd ask this of everyone.

I have probably the slowest possible connection up and download one can have and still be able to play ED. Aned my latency (ping) rate is probably the highest any one can have and still play ED. Thus I've had issues with staying connected and often get and or got accused of Commbat Logging when in reality, my pc or ED just crashes.

Don't know how I happen to do it, but usually when I start ED, on my start bar there will be a launcher and then the game itself. Some how I accidentally closed the launcher after the game had started and though the game continued as normal, I've got considerably less issues with disconnects.

Does anyone else close the launcher after the game starts?

A perfect description.

I do just because I don't need it

Thanks for this. I must try it! :)

Postscript -

On the Launcher taking up some bandwidth, I suspect (since it pumps ads in rotation) that closing it saves some pings.
Close anything you don't need running in the background would be sound advice for your game machine.
I use two machines. One gaming machine, and one crud machine just for internet comms, Inara and other apps and stuff.
The game machine runs only the game I am playing at any time. It has a browser on it for maintenance only.

Also, running two Elite pilot accounts at the same time on one machine puts a bit more load on your graphics card since it it doing the calculations for two screens, even if it is only displaying one at a time.So watch your heat if that is an issue.

I have two accounts that I can launch without using steam. (One was bought on steam ages ago and the other around February of this year) I wouldn't mind buying a third one at the sale price they have now but since it seems that I can't get it to work in the same way as the others, it looks to be too much of a hassle. Too bad, frontier is sorta shooting itself in the foot with the launcher change.
