Two steps foward, one step back: Are HGEs broken again?

I hate to make declarations based on inadequate sample size, but I'm beginning to wonder if Frontier (despite their recent assurances to the community that they have a solid handle on their process and code management) may have broken HGEs again? I just spent over an hour flying to various war and civil war systems, and found a total of 3 HGEs in about a dozen systems (or more). ...of of those, NONE of them were the expected spawns (in Independent systems, a Civil War HGE spawned proto heat radiators, and a War HGE spawned proto radiolic alloys). The third HGE's timer was too short to explore.

The HGE spawn rates WERE great before this last update...

I had the same problems yesterday in the same systems that gave plenty the day before (lave and nearby), but I attributed it to the increasing pirate activity due to the food shortages. I hope I'm right.

After the original update, spawn rates were definitely increased.
After this last patch, I am inclined to agree with you, seems down again.

My original statement, I put a lot of time in to confirm it (for me).
Second part... I'm maxed out on manufactured at the moment, but I'll put more time in when I can.

Not enough info at the moment.:((n)

Edit: Yeh, I gave up worrying about what actually spawns in them after the last complete mess up.

Just flew 115k ls to run down a Civil War HGE in an independent system (in the name of research!). A check of the owning faction revealed the two factions at war were the controlling faction (independent) and a federation faction, and the HGE was spawned by the fed faction. Sure enough, as we know so often happens with these silly fed faction HGE spawning rules, the civil war fed HGE spawned ...proto radiolic alloys and proto light alloys, not war-related mats.

A later test this morning, where I was hunting imperial shielding in an Empire-controlled system, resulted in me finding a war HGE in that empire system. But the HGE was spawned by a fed faction in that system and dropped ...MGAs.

So, one thing that MIGHT have changed is that the HGEs (when they're spawned at all) seem less likely to have been spawned by the controlling faction. It seems to be happening with much more frequency in the last few days than before. It used to be a non-issue in independent systems, where you could pretty reliably find that the HGEs were spawned by the controlling faction, so you could use the system state to govern where you did your HGE hunting when in search of something specific.

Now it's back to being almost a complete crap shoot.

If you're paying attention, FDev (hey, wonders never cease, right?), that "change" is a big step back. Again.
