Two Suns, two close

At that distance they ought to be joined in a Roche pair.

I Bootis aside best I saw was 3 stars lined up in close proximity coming out of superspacespeed mode.

now...

try to fly between them if you dare

p.s. now i know the meaning of the song ''great balls of fire''

Determining scale in space is nearly impossible (look at all those ‘stations are too small’ threads).

You should climb a long way above the orbital plane, point the noise down towards the stars and take a screenshot from that angle to see if they're really that close or one of them is much smaller than the other.

That having been said, there are contact binaries in ED, but they're not currently being rendered properly. I have high hopes though, after the black hole lensing effects.

Shouldn't one star be larger and eating the other? Looks cool though and the fact it's even possible is what makes this game special. The scale in this game despite some procedural stuff like this is amazing. Would be cool if it was stuck in this dance of death being swallowed by the parent while leaving a big orbital trail. Either way nice pic.

It depends on each of their masses and distance. In this case there could perhaps be a transfer of material going both ways, but mostly it is seen with black holes or white dwarfs cannibalising larger neighbours.

Yeah I've seen this kind of system myself in game as well and the first thing that popped into my mind was that this looks very wrong as these starts would merge together a long time ago. But I guess it's not as bad as a planet I've seen in STO (I think) that was split right in the middle and the half globes were happily flying alongside each other with couple hundred so km distance between them.
