Two XBox Ones No Multiplayer on Second

I recently purchased a second Xbox One as my son has been playing the first one more often. When I first bought it I thought I could simply copy games from one console to the other. That assumption is not correct. I deleted all the games from the second machine and downloaded them again, (which really sucks when your internet is metered). I have also set the new Xbox as my Home Xbox. I am still having an issue with Elite Dangerous in that I cannot access any multiplayer content. I get the following message: "Your account does not have permission to use multiplayer features." Again, I'm using the same gamertag on both machines. I'm only getting the message on the new machine, not the old. What gives?

My guess would be router/nat issues, not sure how you would forward the required xbox live ports to two different devices. (I'm guessing you might have to stick one of the xbox's in a DMZ, and forward ports for the other one).

Elite Dangerous reads the multiplayer permissions from the console, so it could be that the second console has that option blocked or that the account doesn't have a Gold Membership.

I wondered that, but if the OP has set his home Xbox to be the second one and he can play multiplayer on the other box (not his home xbox) it sounds like he has Gold membership on his profile so multiplayer should work on both (as long as he is signed in).

OP, you don't say whether any other multiplayer stuff works on the second xbox (ie proving that you have a correctly assigned Live Gold Membership - and the console isn't a second hand banned one!).

Had a quick look on net and yeah seems that the problem might be nats/routers/Dmz's & that some router's/modems work better than others. OP check out the above posts and if these do not help have a look at the links below which explains the problem with a possible fix.

P.s It has been noted that some routers will not work so also check your make/model when solving this issue. Good luck.

I have 2 xboxes. I can confirm you can be on line with both at the same time.

I think maybe you misunderstand how game sharing works. Or maybe not but this might help.

Ok....so.....you will need....xbox 1 and xbox 2. And also gamertag 1 and gamertag 2 (1 gamertag can not be logged in twice online)

Xbox 1...set as the home xbox for gamertag 1(the account you own games on). Log off GT1 and sign in GT2(your sons gt). Xbox 1 will now ALWAYS have gold and your games library available to it. Your son can play WITHOUT logging in as you

Xbox 2. Simply log in with your gamertag(GT1) DO NOT HOME CONSOLE. Being logged in with GT1 gives you access to gold and all of your content.

Your son can then play, using his OWN gamertag with the console all your content is homed to.
And you use your content simply by logging into the 2nd xbox.

All of this assuming your internet is set up correctly

This is all correct. Source: I use game and Gold sharing on two different Xboxs too.
