Type 10 Defender, is it a part of the Big Three or not?

I've seen multiple opinions and comments about how and why the Type-10 Defender is or isn't a part of the "Big" club.

I would agree that it shouldn't have been a part of the "Big" club on release due to the Power Distributor but with the size increase, I would say it's about to time to induct it as it can stack up against the others in Combat, Exploration, Trade, and Mining.

But I ask You, should it or shouldn't it be in the Club, why or why not?

I say it should.

-Great Armor
-Great Jump Range
-Highest Burst Damage
-Great Hard Points/Placements
-Highest Hull Mass for Ramming
-Good Shields
-Versatile

I think "Big Four" should be the new term.
I would argue to add the Beluga Liner, but not until the restrictions on the internals are lifted, then "Big Five" should be the new term.

"The Big Three" is an old term from a time when only three really impressive large pad ships existed. With the great cargo buff to the Type 9, and the general power of the Type 10, it's time to call it "The Big Five". Until another powerhouse is released, lol.

Dont forget the Beluga

Once the Restrictions on the internals are lifted, I could see it being a part of the "Big" Club. The Type-10 had the class 6 Power Distributor, which was a restriction on combat builds.

The Beluga is the Biggest in its line of Passenger Ships, but it restrictions kill it as Versatility in more than one role is what "Big" is about IMO.

The Beluga doesn't have restrictions anymore. There are six large pad ships in this game, one is lighter than some med pad ships.. Talking about the big 3 or 4 is never going to change that.

Urm, that would be difficult. The big four, or more?

Big 6 or big 3, I don't mind which you use. There are no other definitions for me. :)

Awww yeah. Need to get myself an Orca, and totally forgot how minuscule that massive T7 looks when sat on a the L pad.

It's priced within the range of the other main big ships, but it doesn't really match up to their performance in most metrics. Its only advantage is the large number of hardpoints, but in practice it suffers from being the worst freighter due to a combination of poor cargo and poor jump range, being more expensive than the Anaconda once outfitted due to the larger FSD and in combat it is let down by its relatively poor shields (even with a class 8) and its meagre class 7 distributor. It's pretty much a blend of the very worst aspects of the Anaconda, Corvette and Cutter.

well, the Guardian shield booster fix the shield problems mostly, in PvE you can make the ship work, but a buff would be nice
like less brickish

I've generally assumed the phrase referred to the biggest warships rather than the biggest ships. So I don't really think of my Beluga or T9 as qualifying.

But I also have both a T10 and a Cutter, and I think they both qualify. They have the same size 7 PD, so that can't disqualify the T10 without also disqualifying the Cutter. And while the Cutter has the best shields, the T10 has the best armour: I haven't bothered with HRP's, so I can stack SRP's (and one MRP just in case).

No Huge hardpoint, but more hardpoints overall than any other ship. Slow, so you do have to rely on enemies coming to you, therefore better in PvE.

Shield boosters can also be equipped on the Corvette, Cutter and Anaconda. While it is true that the T10 can equip slightly more of them than the Corvette, they aren't anywhere near capable of overcoming the difference in base shield capacity once shield boosters are accounted for.
