Type-10 in VR - the new/better Anaconda

BTW trying to use turrets while getting pirated is about useless - the jitter is so awful and the DPS so low that I wouldn't even bother. At most use Ion/Dispersal/Canister Lock mines as catching an unsuspecting noob with them is fun...

The issue is reverb mines will make short order of your shield generator, the hull is another story and would be tough but most trade T10s are gonna be 1000 or maybe 2000 if they go Military/HD - but I'm sure with traders that's gonna be rare.

Agree, wouldn't bank on shields. Fitted the military composite. Will look at the mines thanks, but for point and shoot, turreted weapons are pretty much the only option given the T-10 turns like a brick.

PS: Some stats - Hull strength with military composite = 2,030. With two class 5D hull reinforcement packages in the restricted slots = 2,810. Grade 5 engineer the lot for heavy duty = 3,713.

Totally agree with you OP. I usually take my Asp for exploring, but miss the fighter bay hanger. Tried the Conda once and as you hated it mainly because of the view.

But the view in the Type 10 is awesome especially in VR, so was thinking about turning it into an exploration ship, and see what range i will get with an engineered FSD.

I promise you you'll never fly your Conda again after the T10 in VR, especially when seeing it from the SRV.

Why did you have to go say that? I have vr but not enough credits for a T10! Oh gawd, off I go to grind!

Sorry, I prefer the Anaconda. I like the deck-like feeling - its not a cockpit, it's a Bridge. Loved the Lakon cockpits too, spent many LY in my Asp.

I dig the T-10, but can we, for the love of the Spaghetti Monster, stop slapping spoilers on every bloody thing? I hate that with a passion. I have no problem with it if it was a ship kit. But it's not. It looks out of place, it looks ugly, it looks tacked on, it has no function other than making it look like a 10-year old designed the thing. Seriously, the hell is going on with the ship design team? Make the ship look unique, add things to the model that make bloody sense. Ugh.

See Kerbal Space Program! More struts! :D

Please everyone else, PLEASE do NOT follow this advice, it is 100% wrong. While the T10 turns poorly that's not how you fight with it - you let it drift FA off and don't joust with your target. For NPCs this is rather easy and the HUGE DPS difference between worthless turrets and useful gimbals is huge. If you don't believe me let's meet up somewhere and I'll be happy to educate you.

Best you'll get is right around 40 - and with the Asp being 50 pretty easily for exploration I'd never pick the T10 for that. Doing hundreds of jumps with that awful supercruise turn rate would be miserable compared to the nimble Asp. Don't hate yourself that much!

Yeah, sorry, I just speak-a-duh truth here. If you'd like to get a view from multicrew hit me up in game ;-)

I tried gimbaled in a res... I watched 3 of the 4 large guns track the target, the fourth one slowly moved to the target, firing the whole way... Needless to say I suddenly saw a lot more red blips and my res session was ended.

Not really sure what you're trying to say - if it's that gimballed are bad because you let one hit an enemy target that's your lack of skill and not the weapons fault. If you learn how to use your weapons and fly properly gimballed is the only way to go. Sadly you can only use fixed on the 2 smalls up front which are great for cascade/super-pen rails. Other than that the huge spacing makes gimbals a necessity. I'll say it one more time - turrets are never the answer. Never.

I've been using gimbaled all along, rarely use turrets and I've never had this issue before, I re-locked a ship that had been using chaff (it was clear) and 3 popped onto the target, the 4th was pointing out in never-never land and slowly tracked across the to it, firing all the way. The large gimbals on this ship, most likely because they have a very large firing arc, can be very slow to acquire the target. This happened more than once, the last time it did it hit a security ship.

As a release day Rift owner I have almost 1500 hours in Elite in VR. I tend to greatly favor the smaller ships, with the Sidewinder, Eagle and Vulture being my favorites. I also love the cockpits of all the Lakons and trade in a T9 just for fun. I've done a trip to Sag A* and went in my Conda and hated every minute of it - the view is so awful. Low ceiling and long nose makes me feel like I'm in a big RV, a far cry from the huge open cockpits of the Lakons.

So for me the T10 is finally the big ship I want to use/fly. I've already finished my G5 PvE/Mat build - in short the ship I use to get engineering materials for other ships. Great at PvE bounty hunting, fighter, SRV, collectors, 1300MJ shields (plus 3 cell banks), etc. etc. And that view - that glorious view.

Yes, it's expensive - sell you Anaconda. Swap the modules and get your distributor and FSD engineered and you're ready. Don't know about Thargoids yet but I'm sure it's great there too. In short if you're a VR player and you like 'em big this is your girl.

Here's my current G5 Build

Agree? Disagree? Anyone hating on it?

I hate that the T10 cockpit has not been changed from the T9 even a bit

And it looks as if it came out of the T9 I destroyed over in Bunda !!! Scratches, Damage and worn. Despicable for the price they charge! I have demanded a refund!

That was so they could scale up production quickly... Getting all those changes approved by the regulation authorities would have led to major delays!

I think the "new" ones are refitted T9s...

I'm totally agree/ I've bee playing for a couple of months and every Lakon ship flown I've loved had kept. I was working hard for a T9 until the T10 on the seen which I got last weekend.
had to trade T6 and T9 and still break the bank for it. WOOT. It reminds me of the Octavian Dragon from Jumpgate
