Type 6 and "flicker"

So I went from bounty hunting to space trucking, and I heard how cool the type-6 was in the rift, and it is. The issue is flying away from the sun, I will often get a strobe light effect, I assume from the light behind me. Is this a known issue, is there a graphics setting that will prevent this?

I get the same thing in the Cobra.
Never experienced it in the Eagle or Sidey.

Oddly I spent a LOT of time in a Cobra and never had it...
