Ship Builds & Load Outs Type 6 transporter for mining

looks alright to me, of course my mining experience is limited, i'd probably use a collector controller that can do 2 limpits though.

is there any advantage to having 2 mining lasers instead of just 1? I would suspect no, but i'm not sure.

Interesting but never tried so I don't know if it works. But if it does, I think that combined with a 2 limpets controller, this could double the speed of mining.
Of course, this would also need a good refinery because insufficent number of bins will soon choke the process, requiring manual venting and nullify the increased speed.

My mineaconda has dual lasers. It just chops up an asteroid faster. Doesn't drop more or better. I also have two collector controllers, which lets me have 5 collector limpets out. It takes about a minute to chop up and collect an asteroid. During that minute, I usually have time to fire a prospector limpet at another rock and figure out where I am heading next.

Edit: I started off mining in a hauler and then moved up to a T6. T6 are good birds for light mining. It takes a lot of money to get to a mineaconda but that's kind of the ultimate luxury. I usually pull in with 180t or so of metals. You're making good bling when you sell 70t of palladium at a shot. ...

Yeah, conda is a little too much for me. About the T6, I'll surely give it a try when bored of BH in the CG.

I already did. I found a little neat place to mine at a reasonable range (so players won't bother me hehehe) with pristine metallic reserves.

For the OP: Use prospectors. Just do it. Come close to an asteroid, shoot your lazors, see what pops up, if it's something valuable in a good % then shoot the prospector, will double the total yield of the asteroid getting you so much for each good one you find. I'll give you an example, in the sortie I just made I found an asteroid that when I shot at it popped a 45% platinum chunk. Once my eyes stopped rolling and I came back to my senses I immediately sent a prospector to that asteroid doubling the ammount of chunks I could mine. Had I not had any prospector limpets I'd been a very, very sad panda :p

Drop one class 4 cargo rack and put in a class 3 collector limpet controller. Allows for 2 limpets to work simultaneously, and believe me, at the rate you'll be popping out chunks just one takes too long. You'll end up spending a couple minutes close to an already emptied asteroid waiting for the lone limpet to collect everything. 2 of them collect everything much quicker.

Class A shields is overkill and is straining your budget. Drop to class B, with that booster is more than enough and will save you a ton of money.

Use 2 mining lasers. It makes a noticeable difference because you'll work through asteroids much faster and mining is an activity where time efficiency matters a lot.

I have a different setup than this but following those guidelines pointed avobe I made a T-6 single run of 37 palladium, and around 24 platinum and 7 gold just one hour ago reasonably near the CG place (a system I found -and which I won't name :p, don't want it swarming with players :p-) with pristine metallic reserves. Took me 40 minutes. You can guess the profits ;).

Thank you for the tips. In the spare time, I tried mining with my cobra in a pristine ring but I need a ship with much more free cargo available because prospecting limpets are "one shot one kill" and looking specifically for palladium because of the CG wastes a lot of them. Anyway using 2 collector limpets and 2 mining laser really doubled the speed. Unfortunately, those pesky limpets kept on collecting my jettisoned cargo so I had to vent the low creds minerals before refining 1 ton.

Here you can see my T-6 build in action, with some tips about mining efficiently. Hope it helps! :)

460 s 2 limpet collector, 2 mining lasers or 1 depending how you use your pips. What else is there beside defense. 4 million is exactly the cost of a mining ship unless you want to fit 2 A class limpet collector for 720s. Realistically those limpet will have the tendency to die on collision if the asteroid is spinning in a weird position and the floating boat takes to much time to position it correctly.

ohh and the ten slot refinery. And about 30-40 limpet in a cargo hold of 70. And the ejection of bad ore unless your a clean miner.

I'm just changed my T6 to T7 in there i use 2 M lasers, and 6 collector drones, whit this is possible to strip mine an asteroid within a few minutes and collect the metals at the same rate no ned to wait for the drones to grab me the loot. when i'm done i can move on to the next asteroid, its true my cargo hold is a little bit smaller because of the 2 collector controller, but in this way i can mine a lot more, at the given time, one round of mining takes about 30-45 minutes and depending on my luck, it can yield about 2-2.5M if i picky enought to trash the less worthy resources, and think twice which asteroid i shoud touch with my lasers.

Hi !

Today I won 4M with the CG so I fiddled a little with Coriolis and tried to make a 3M build of a Type 6 Trasporter for mining, leaving 1M for emergency.

http://coriolis.io/outfit/type_6_tr...0404032140C501.Iw1-kA==.Aw1-kA==?bn=T6 mining

I saw other builds in this forum but they are 4M+ and I don't want to spend the extra M.

I appreciate any suggestion before I dock at the shipyard and click on purchase. :D

Thanks.

So where is your prospector limpet controller?
