Type 6 transporter

Hi,

I currently have a Cobra MK3 and wish to do a lot of trading. Is the Type 6 Transporter the next ship that I should buy? Also, how much cargo space does the type 6 have? Is there anything I need to be aware of with the type 6 as well?

Thanks in advance

Yes, as a trader your next step right now is the Type-6. It has 100 units cargo space.
It has great hyperspace range, approximately 15ly fully loaded. You will not feel restricted anymore.
When you buy it ensure that you also have at least 15k for buying the cargo.

It's surprisingly maneuverable too (for a freighter). I wouldn't advise dogfighting in it though. :)

Docking wise, it's no more difficult than a Cobra - which is to say not at all.

It depends on the money you have. Here is an image on the scale of the spaceships and their capacity in tons (of Commanders Literalyte and Nicomak)

what the other havent mentioned yet:

insane hyperjump range. 12.75 ly plus.

In fact the jump list doesnt list all the systems you can actually jump to, you need to select them from the galaxy map they are so far away, yet reachable!

I used a type 6 as a stepping stone to my Cobra (had to make my "comfort" million first! )

I did mostly trading, and found a good 1 jump trade route that made 1016 profit each unit... and yeah, at 100 units, thats 101,600 credits profit each trip!

When I got bored with just trading I went bounty hunting/looting as a sort of privateer: I fitted 2 class2 cannons, and patrolled nav beacons looking for other freighters that were wanted, to claim their often high bounties as well as the most juicy of cargo that they dropped. I of course left the wanted eagles, sidewinders, cobras, and vipers alone... I was a specialist hunter. :p

All in all, a nice little ship. Once we can upgrade our ships speed and maneuverability, can own multiple ships, and name our ships, I suspect a lot of them will be called something like "Bicentennial Falcon".. or "Millenium Raptor".. or.. you know, something fitting like that

Come get some

I love my Lakon 6

Huge jump range. Fabulous view. Nimble enough for its size.

The Lakon 6 is not about combat. Just equip 2 missile batteries. Haven't met any obstacle yet, 12 missiles couldn't take care of. Just put all pips to systems/shields and start flying backwards to get an easy lock on. When they get close enough, and you can see the white in their eyes, let them have it. They'll never know what hit them. Well they'll know, it just won't matter.:)

Fly safe Commander.:)

Lakon 6 is the mainstay of the trader!
Versatile, reasonably fast and agile, enormous jump range, huge cargo bay, very good view out of cockpit.
It's not a fighter, but it can bite though..

The thing is that with its huge bay, the careful trader can use this ship a long time before growing out of it, i.e can you fill the cargo fully up with expensive stuff and dont care to lose that cargo on a run ?

If you can go Lakon 9, if you cant stick to Lakon 6 and build your wealth :)

Cheers Cmdr's

I just sold Ana and I'm back in the lunchbox again :) Man it feels thrice as fast as I remember. I still wish the Cobra's jump range will be improved, but until then this will do fine.

The Transporter is a great ship to fly and trade with but weak and undergunned by comparison with the Cobra. When you can afford to, switching to a Transporter and trading for a little while will give you a very healthy bank balance that you can translate into as much mucking about with Cobras and Vipers as you desire.
