Type 6

I wasn't being literal, I have just been trading solid for a few days now and only have around 4 million, I am not sure is an Asp is going to be worth it as you need 12 million to outfit it properly and a type 9 is going to around 25 million to buy and outfit, just feels like I am going to be in my type 6 for a long time.

Probably best not to bother with the Asp, took me ages to kit it out and then I just traded it in for a type 7. But on the plus side the Asp can dock at outposts where as the T7 can't.

I'm not sure why you'd trade the Asp for a T7. Asp is multi-role, T7 is a cargo ship; they're not the same ship type...

I primarily a trader at the moment so my current goal is Type 7 but I have been toying with the idea of Asp for trading but I really can't see the benefit as far as trading goes

Why not just park up the T6 and grab another ship, kit it out and try something else, then go back to trading later?

Sidewinders are dirt cheap and doesn't matter if you get toasted.

I avoid the Type 6, went straight into and ASP from my cobra ... The type 6 is just too ugly. Especially the landing gear, I can't even look at it. Sometimes i blow up type-6's in space. I'm doing the pilot a favour, he's stuck in his ice cream van all life. I liberate.

The Asp can carry about the same cargo as a T6 when equipped for trading but can do it quicker and further.

I have a viper but I am currently playing on a xbone pad so combat is less than satisfying, as soon as my new joystick arrives then sure I might park my type 6 for a bit, and don't get me wrong I love my type 6 but it just seems to be a massive gap between trading vessels.

Type 6 - 2 million next trade ship is type 7 - 20 million with nothing in-between worth getting for pure trading

to kit out an asp with decent gear you are looking at 12 million, is it really worth it for no extra cargo space?

I'm kind of on the same boat. I was actually thinking on taking a 140 LY trip just so I can trade with some Imperial Slaves.
Besides that I was thinking on buying a Viper so I can try some combat, but again I'm on an Xbox360 pad which is ok for Trading but hard for combat.

Type 6 is a good boat if all you want to do is trade, up to 7.5 mill now trading rares and will be buying my asp shortly. It is what it is , a means to an end. going to have a fully loaded asp for trading (then I can blow those pesky interdictors!) and cobra for a bit of fun.

Yea I know this is the truth and I am not really complaining but it just seems to be a long way away is all, I did my first rare trade run last night, filled my hold with rares and travelled the 200lys away to be safe and made nearly 3 million but it took ages and wasn't very efficient.

but it did break the monotony of the single jump 200k round trips.

I sold my type six in favor of the Cobra yeah I can't trade as much but the up keep is reasonable and until there is a better selection of ships I don't see much point in upgrading as I'm not going to have enough play time to afford the upkeep on the larger ships.

Being mainly a trader it made sense to me at the time, didn't know till later I couldn't trade at outposts with the T7 otherwise I would have probably kept the Asp. I also have a Cobra for combat.

Make no mistake, the type 6 is the best value for money, considering purchase cost per ton of cargo space.

The Type 6 is also good for exploring.
Decent (though not stellar) jump range, little wear and tear and has an absolutely great cockpit.

make sure you scan every system you pass through too, pays for the fuel!

Don't be mistaken I love my Type 6 and as Anton said it is the best value for money for cargo space as the running costs are on par with a cobra, I just wish the Type 7 was not so far out of reach and I keep looking at that pyhton and drool comes out but that feels like it is never going to happen ;p
