Type-7 vs. Type-6

I have earned enough trading to be able to up trade. I have been doing many milk runs to outposts. What are some considerations to take into account between these two ships that would help me decide if it is a good idea? I know the cargo space is nearly double... any other factors?

Type-7 is expensive to outfit and has less jump range in general.
I run a 208t fit with a docking computer and shields in my Type-7 so I am the opposite of Elite.
Type-6 made me less than 1/2 the credits per hour my Type-7 makes.

And Type-7 is large pads only, no outposts.

Good:

-More than 2x the cargo space
-Great jump range
-View
-Amazing yaw -> escapes all NPC interdictions

Bad:

-Can't land on outposts
-Horrible heat management
-Cannot defend itself (duh, it's a transport meant to be flown in high-security systems)
-Armor akin to a Sidewinder's, with that size to boot.

More cargo space is all that is important for trading. Once you can afford an upgraded FSD upgrade to the t7 so that you can earn credits (and trader ranking) faster.

It's also an upgrade you can make without keeping the old hull --- as would be normal safe progression. Just make sure you can afford it, i.e. fill cargo hold with gold + 3 x insurance after you upgrade.

One thing that's not been mentioned explicitly: the Type-6 makes a better explorer than the Type-7, so if you want to convert the beast for a while as a break from hauling, the T-6 is better. (Or keep the Type-7 and just get an Asp as an extra ship!)

The Type-7 is probably the easiest ship to land manually that I've flown.

However, the Type-7 is not a pretty or elegant ship. I call mine: The Burrito. :D

Well, the T7 takes twice (plus a bit) the cargo than the T6, so you will be making twice the credits.

It has kind of a space truck feel, it actually turns like a road truck as the yaw is far better than roll/pitch.

Its drawbacks are its lack of speed, poor armor and useless weapons.

Its an expensive ship in which you will have to be on constant lookout to avoid fighting.

Better be prepared in case you are interdicted... Invest in thrusters to up the speed, shields to take the heat while waiting for FSD to recharge, chaff and electronic countermeasures do reduce taken damage. But it is better to use some prevention, mind the scanner and if you see shady ships trying to get on your tail, bug out. Its a lot of ship and cargo to risk losing.

Oh and like was already said, the T7 won't land on outposts.

I tried the Type 7 for about 1 week. Then earned enough for a trade Clipper and never looked back at the T7. And as soon as I could afford a trade Python, I sold the Clipper and have enjoyed getting back to trading with outposts.
