type 7

well after a bit of sole searching I bought one , it can be a very good money earner you fly with fingers crossed that you are not attacked which makes your heart beat faster . but with a bit of spec it should stand up well .

curious who you are talking to because i think it's yourself, and that's cool, you know, who am i to judge.. maaann..

lol, well when you are in your space ship there is no one to talk to apart from myself Wilson_The_Volleyball.jpg and Wilson my Co pilot :)

well we may be getting tier 2 npc's next month; so that could all change, i never bought a type 7 as i recall, i went from a 6 to an asp to python to an anaconda (my python is now a combat/explorer/mining ship, and my asp is about to become my explorer ship again because i just got back for a 1000LY voyage in said python and it's really not ideal for exploring.)

i loved my trade python and it earned me an anaconda pretty quick.. my conda is my trade ship now and my python is my fun-screw-trading ship, all purpose atm, i loves it.

well I have an ASP as well which I use as a armored merchant ship in PP , I am working towards a python as my next Combat ship only about 80 million !!

The T7 has next to no problems with NPC attacks. Mass lock isn't that much of a problem, and the thing is surprisingly agile. You will realise the latter when you get into the T9.

I hated the T7. Awful ship. Can't imagine how much worse it is now npc's have some teeth.

Knowing what I know now if I ever had the nerve to do a clear save I would skip the T7. Use an ASP for trading and Vulture for RES until I could fit a Clipper for trading.

The big problem (for me) with the T7 is its a long grind to get a trade spec Python. The T7 could be easily 'fixed' though by increasing its cargo capacity.

I just got a T7, the only disappointment is I would of thought it would hold more cargo. As a trade ship holding max 216T that's not that much more than an Asp

Surprised by that. My T7 holds 200 T whereas my Asp only carries 120 T. That's +67%. Not worth having?

If there's any disappointment, it's that it's not outpost capable, as would be an Asp or a Python. But then the T7 carries more than a Python too.

mmmmmm

twice as much as a Asp

half as much as a T-9

must be why it sits between the 2 ??????

Note that the Dropship costs around 20 mil and can hold 160 tons as a multi purpose vessel, while the T 7 costs around 18 mils for 232 tons max. That's 82 tons more for less money. As the Federal Dropship is described to be "capable of carrying large loads", this is a much more logic comparison. So, unless you expect freighters to come with the double amount of cargo space, the raise by 82 tons from spacey multipurpose to freighter seems rather neato me.

I don't mind my T7.. It is a sitting duck in any type of battle situation and at close quarters it simply cannot compete to fight.

I've got a well specced vulture stored away and about 30mil credits in the bank.... Wondering whether to keep plugging on to a type 9 and then make 1mil cr per round trip profit, or to go into the python (which was the whole reason I bought the type 7 in the first place)...

Any thoughts on which way to go?

Trading on single jump routes paying minimum 2.5k profit per ton (round trip). The problem is with the ship.
It's too slow to get away but can also be easily mass locked, even by an ASP.

It doesn't sit half way between t6 and t9, its about 40%. If it had a cargo capacity closer to 300 it would become a great ship
Similar issue with the t9. It needs more cargo. The Anaconda should not be a better trading ship

The Python has greater cargo capacity than the t7

The Clipper also has grater cargo capacity than the T7.

However, when people criticise a ship/ module/ game concept it's often because the player is not using it to best effect. Generally the positive opinion is more correct than the negative.
So to be fair, if players have good experience with the T7 they probably found better ways to use it than I did.
