Ships Type 8 Cargo Scoop

Is it me or is the Type 8 cargo scoop impossible to used?

I line up the cargo reticule with the canister or escape pod. Everything is OK until the last minute when it veers of to the side. No time to react, no matter how slow I go.

I can do it with other ship type, but not the T8.

I had the complete opposite experience of using it, but I just tested manual scooping briefly out of curiosity. I'm using a 3C operations limpet controller for the four collectors along with recon limpets for powerplay, but any collector controller will be easier (and faster) than manually scooping, so that would be my recommendation.

There's a bug which not only affects limpets trying to get through your cargo scoop but affects manual scooping as well. It affects several ships, not just the T8.

I have both the Type 8 and Python Mk2 Stellar versions. In my experience the Type 8 is not easy to pick up items with the cargo scoop. I found I had to go at the slowest possible crawl and keep the item aligned in the reticule to pick up the cargo. I concentrated on the mission-required one first. On the other hand, the Python mk2 was much easier to use the cargo scoop but is limited to 8 items in its Stellar incarnation.

Does it make any difference if your hardpoints are retracted, think I read somewhere that one hardpoint somewhat blocked the scoop...

I tried it both ways and I think I found it slightly easier on the T8 with the hardpoints deployed. It might be just luck of the draw though.

The bug affects both limpets and manual scooping (without limpets).
Yes ... but that bug doesn't appear to affect materials (or even sub-tonne refinery fragments), just commodities - so it shouldn't be relevant in this case.

Also, the symptom for commodities isn't that the items "veer off" when manually scooped, it's that they just sit there in the scoop without being collected for several seconds.
(Sure, if you go fast at them, they might hit your ship and then bounce sideways somewhat)

I actually had one that veered off but it was from an NPC Power ship I destroyed - definitely not a commodity.
