Ships Type 9 deep core miner?

Has anyone tried the new mining features with a type-9? I just feel pity on the clipper, such as handsome ship and to waste it away rummaging through the dirt...[sad]

(As I my girlfriend insisted, I told her a million times: "its not the hole that's the problem, its me. And honey, I can make it fit!")

I use a T10 for large scale mining but found placing seismic charges hard work (most core roids seem to have a fair tumble) and the T9 has less agility shame cause they really look like miners :(

For DC mining I currently use a Challenger good agility and plenty of hard points for all the mining tools if you want.

I've been mining in my Type-9 since the update. People gripe about the maneuverability but I haven't had any issues with getting in there and deep coring, I also haven't had any issues matching the rotation of the roids. Granted, I've fully engineered my boat with Dirty Drives so I'm much more maneuverable than stock. I've currently refit my entire boat to take on the Distant Worlds 2 trip as a Deep Space miner, so the cargo room is greatly reduced.

Long story short, you won't know if it's for you until you try it. Can't recommend the thruster mods enough but I'm absolutely in love with my T9 and my T10.

You can't beat the view, that's for sure.

I've got a few dozen hours in a 9 with the new equipment, it does outstanding and it's hard to beat the cargo room.

From my experience on Xbox I can say it's not as hard as some people say. I too outfitted mine for DW2, two abrasion blasters, two 2D mining lasers, and a single seismic launcher. If you line yourself up with the asteroids rotation you can easily access enough fissures to get the optimum yield with plenty of time to spare! It's especially nice in thin rings as you can just stay above it whilst not risking missing anything that's below you.

I'm taking a hint from your playbook and dropping my subsurface drill. I wanted to have it for the sake of rolling well-rounded, but honestly, the extra 2 or 3 chunks you get from it really aren't worth the time right now, imo. I like it as a piece of equipment, but 2-3 chunks, (which usually aren't the super-valuable core mineral anyway) at the cost of another weapon fire group just doesn't seem worth it. Especially since hitting with 2 abrasion blasters gives currently double chunks with each firing.

The reduced power draw doesn't hurt anything either.
