Type-9 Heavy or Anaconda?

OK, I have plenty of money laying around, either in cash or ships I don't use.

I just don't know what ship to buy and not use next! Lol
I currently have my FDL for combat, Asp(and Cobra) for smuggling, Python for mining and trading, a DBS for no reason, and about 6 hauler taxis dotted about the galaxy. Lol

Anyhoo, I quite enjoy the 'good' trading CGs, as they pay well, and are quite relaxing.
(Mining is OK, but I really hate prospecting those damn roids!)

Anyhoo, I can currently afford a Type 9, and no far off for an Anaconda.
So I was just wondering what peoples thoughts are on which I should get?

The world is polarised on this one. Personally I love the T9 but I understand that it is not for everybody. It is a beast of a thing to fly but that is part of the reason I love it - it feels like a monster freighter and so it changes everything you do. How you approach protection, interdictions, approaches, and everything. It's much cheaper to fuel, repair, and set up. So of course I would recommend it. However there are also very good arguments in favour of the anaconda. Just be prepared financially to lose a couple while you get the hang of it.

The T9 carries more stuff. And its cheaper and beautiful.

THe Anaconda carries a tiny bit less stuff, but takes the stuff faster and more safely. But its more expensive.

I'm with sqzbox1 on this, personally I love the T9, complete unique flying style, handles beautifully with FA-OFF and takes a while to master, the bridge is absolutely stunning in VR and it can defend itself from any NPC's including Pythons, it feels & handles like a proper freighter.

On the flip side the Anaconda is a beast in it's own right, puts a smile on my face when I take mine out on runs, very maneuverable for its size, excellent jump range for bulk hauling missions & gives you the feeling of being the Captain of a Supertanker + 100% safety guaranteed on cargo runs.

Both ships in Open (cargo config) are easy targets for cmdr's wanting you dead. Best option is to use tactics that will avoid an interdiction in the first place.

Don't listen to them ^^^^^^, they are going to melt your mind :D

For real this time, the T9 is a really good ship and its on sale at the mo at onnes (or waht ever its called) in LFT 37.
I spent 3 weeks in the T9 and I almost quit the game, she is such a handful, but the Conda, man she is something else.

I will always keep the trusty Connie.

I'm going to add, if you have the rank, you arn't too far from the Cutter if you almost have the money for a Conda.
Cutter going for around 147m stock at LFT 37 :D

Anaconda is a better trading ship. More enjoyable and safer to fly. Also its jump range allows for trading more cargo per hour despite a slightly smaller cargo capacity.
Just make sure to have more than enough money to cover the insurance and cargo costs.

If you can afford to, try each one out for a while. The problem is that we don't know your style of flying in the game. I have tried both, and I hated the T9, as it and I could not mesh together well (that is NOT the fault of the T9, it just did not suit my style of flying). However, I have had the Anaconda for nearly a year now, and I will not be selling her (I am saving up for the Federal Corvette), as she is part of the family.

However, I do have a simple rule when buying ships. Make sure to have 200% of the purchase price before buying the ship. That way you have enough for said ship, some outfitting, a couple of cargo loads, and a couple of REBUYs. The forum is littered with stories of people who had enough for the ship and a load of cargo, headed off on a run, got killed and (because they had blown the credits) were back in a Sidewinder.

The anaconda will no doubt be the better ship, however everyone should experience the type 9.
so I'd suggest going the "proper" upgrade path and buy them in sequence.

Bah. Lol still can't decide.

I'll probably end up with both.

But seems as LFT 37 has a Type-9 at 30% off, I shall treat myself! Lol

Can you imagine trading in a 728t Cutter with class 6 shields in a ship that can't be mass locked and has the speed to run from all but the fastest ships in game?
If you can hold out, get that beautiful Cutter.

So true, it makes you appreciate all the other ships.

Make sure you get the highest distributer, you will have constant boost on tap. I have a Voice attack command that can keep the ship in boost while in normal space, the ship cruises at 200 m/s

Well, I picked the T9, seems as it was 50 something million. Lol

I only threw on D grade stuff, and and A grade FSD.
Then randomly outfitted her for mining!
Cos I only trade for CGs.

Undocking was a breeze. Despite the cow like handling. However I did get her stuck in the letterbox while docking at the other end!
I think that's a right of passage for any T9 owner though. Lol

After that, I went mining for the CG, in LHS 2661. Empty anarchy system!

First time I dropped in to the ring, a wing of 4 iEagles started zooming in my direction. So I promptly left, and dropped in somewhere else. More iEagles!
Took some damage this time, cos I'd already began prospecting when they spawned. So, I zoomed off again, and dropped a few 100km away again.
Nothing! Wooh. Bliss.
Then I remembered how dull mining is.
I think my Python makes the better miner. At least I don't have to run from eagles Lol.

The cutter looks like an excellent trader, despite being a combat ship.
(FD, you make no sense!)
But I have no ranks in empire, so that's out of the question. Nor do I have 140mil .

I may stick with the T9 for week or two, hopefully some good trading CFs pop up again, then try out the Anaconda, when my cash reserves return to normal.
