Type 9 heavy woes.... interdiction losses like crazy

Lots of advice. I’d simply reiterate the unofficial and stolen ‘Don’t Panic’ motto of the Pilots Federation, particularly when it comes to losing sight of the interdiction vector marker. Roll, pitch and yaw your way back. You can win, you will win. Do or do not do, it’s down to you, o7

Years ago, when I was running a Type 7, NPC interdictions were annoying as heck. I said no more running and got a Python. NPCs then became a source of income.

Eventually, that Python got me through to a Corvette. Never went back to any of the T models, though many here love them.

Once you get the hang of it, NPCs really become routine.

The direction the vector is moving across the screen is more important than the position.

Try and match that directional movement and you’ll be leading the vector rather than chasing it as it zooms off to the other side of the screen.

I play in VR, which helps enormously tracking the escape vector when it moves way off to one side.

I also use a twisty joystick for pitch, roll and yaw which I feel is an advantage escaping interdiction.

Upon interdiction, I continuously roll as I lead the escape vector with a combination of pitch and yaw. Adjust as necessary, YMMV.

Need pointers/help etc
PvE or PvP? If the former, some decent shields, boosters, and if you can afford it, reinforced or military hull should give you enough time to wake out. I've got crap shields and lightweight hull (I'm poor), and I can escape a NPC pirates, albeit with hull damage.

If the PvP, see my signature :)

Does selecting "Yaw into roll" in the bindings help?

I wouldn't advise it, I guess it depends on your flying style. Normally I fly with a full HOTAS/Pedal setup, very easy for interdictions, my legs are doing most of the work.

My whole setup is in boxes due to moving house, been flying KB/M (got interdicted in a T9, 7x times in a row due to stacking) I had Yaw into roll enabled, survived all interdictions but it was difficult. Yaw & Roll needs to be completely separate imo

Off topic: They should really sort out the interdictions due to stacking, the whole thing is broken, it was comical having so many chain interdictions. Clearly not by design, just a result 2 NPC's being sent per cargo mission. Make a trade run more difficult for those running multiple cargo loads, but get rid of the spam interdictions.
