Type 9 made of concrete?

Hey guys,

Not sure if this has been raised before, but I was perusing the shipyard site today and discovered the reason for the type 9s much shorter jump distance when compared to the Anaconda is that the conda is practically half the weight (without cargo)

Not sure how that could be possible considering the Fonda has more than twice the armour plating.

Anyone with more knowledge than me got a better explanation other than that the type 9 is made of concrete?

Who knows, T9 is big old frieghter designed for one thing.. haul massive amounts of cargo relatively cheaply. The Conda is a multipurpose ship, heavily optimized, internals are likely very different, price range of the conda would suggest lightweight strengthened materials. It's anybody's guess.

Haven't put much thought into it, my T9 hauls 500T at 13LY, more than enough for my trade routes. My conda was all over the galaxy, jump range and maneuverability is important for that ship, you need to get to combat zones quickly, that is how I would imagine warships to be compared to supertankers.

I suppose the idea that its badly designed and built from cheaper materials could go some way to explaining it. I still think half the weight with double the armour is pushing it though...

Well it's about twice as wide as an Anaconda, 2/3 the length, and about the same height. So that by itself should account for about a third more mass.

So what are you going after here? If you're pushing for the T9 to be lightened, fine. I wish you luck!

If you're suggesting the conda be nerfed then go away. :) I like my conda as it is.

Spend 146 million on a ship and you might think it should be a little OP. I will admit that something is off if you look at the trucking ships VS multipurpose. T6 is lighter than the ASP... beyond that. the T7 is heavier than the python and the conda ligher than the t9.. But the asp and python can haul more than the t6 and t7 both dedicated spacetrucks. yet the T9 can haul more than the anaconda. So I'm not sure what thought process was going on during ship design but. Yea.. There it is.
Not really sure if i can see anything wrong with it though, Other than maybe trying to get the T9 lightened up a bit. Having a ship that weighs twice as much of what it can haul is odd but this is space. And the T9 is a giant extra thick pancake.

Well, you could say just the same about the clipper and the T7. T9, even with beeing the biggest pure trading ship up to date, is just a simply trader. No fancy tech or such. Fancy tech you get with the superior allrounders. But for that you pay some nice credits. However, i don't think there will be something bigger than the Panther when it comes to trade, once the Panther is avaiable. Still, it will be trader, no fancy stuff. But at least you have something to decide for yourself.

The Type-9 was originality a self installing garden shed, once purchased would fly to your house and land in the garden.
