First: kudos for having ventured in open.
Second: as others said, go for prismatics hi-cap for shields. Point of defence is ok(ok-sh) for mines, but can't do much against torpedos and volleys of missiles (they get one down, but you'll be very likely hit by the second). Hull is good but your drives are exposed and since the T9 is a sitting duck against 99% of PvP ships, your drives will be targeted very easily.
Third: look for an hi-wake, always.
PS you can eventually put reverb/ion/ion/shift-lock mines on your T9 and drop them if they pursue you (just watch out to do not hit yourself with them).
