Ships Type 9 vs Type 10

You knew you'd see one of these eventually, right?

Now, obviously I'm talking trading here, I doubt any sane person would choose the type 9 for combat over the type 10.

Anyway, Coriolis hasn't got the type 10 stats for now, so I can't fiddle around to compare the two ships.

So, from anyone else's experience, how do the two ships compare, as traders, and is it really worth the extra cash to get a type 10 as a large trader, over the type 9?

Let the heavyweight battle, commence!

In terms of cargo no, T9 is slightly better.
In terms of defended trading with armour/shields then yes the T10 takes it.
In terms of jump range yes.
In terms of speed and turn rates, slightly yes.

But if you have rank and cash the order is still: Cutter, Corvette, Anaconda
I'd say a T10 is only marginally better for survival than a T9 if against other players. Against NPCs it'll be a significant step up. That being said with 3000Mj shield, 720T cargo, 350m/s and still 22ly I'll take the Cutter any day.

If you were thinking type-9 and have the credits for 10, it’s a non-brainer. More speed, better handing, better surviability and a pretty sick spoiler that you just know will literally trigger every commander this side of the rift.

Strange... One of my friends just told me he used his 8A prismatics and his boosters from his Cutter, and that gave him 3000mj shields on the T10.

Can anyone else confirm that the T10 shields can go that high? If so, it sounds like a very well defended ship.

I hope T10s give more rare materials, because I am going T10 hunting tonight and killing every single one I run into.

Type-10 is about two-thirds or less the cost of cutter to fit out. It also has the highest hull hardness, period. 75 vs 70 for Cutter. But this is asking type-9 versus type-10; so there’s very little reason to stick with type-9, given type-10 is a big step up in capability.

If you can afford to throw 600+ million at a ship, you won’t be asking these questions anyway.

That could be classed as griefing. Also good luck. They have a ton of armour so you’ll be at it for hours. Best of luck!

Here's the best I can do to compare stuff. As said already, T10 basically invalidates the T9, unless you're poor or need that extra size 4 slot for... something.

T9T10
Speed131179
Boost201219
Armour8641044
Power Plant68
Thrusters77
FSD67
Life Sup55
Power Dist66
Sensors44
Hardpoints: S22
Hardpoints: M33
Hardpoints: L04
Hardpoints: H00
Utilities48

Internals are identical, except T10 has loses 1x size 4 slot, and gains 2x size 5 military slots.

How does it look if we compare a T10 and a Conda just for trading?

PS: I'm tired of always changing the internal of my Conda between exploration and trading so I might get a T10 for trading in the bubble. Or a 2nd Conda.

Before someone wants to criticize type-10 I wanna add that you must remember purpose of this ship. It's anty-thargoid ship, and it has the best armour in the game.

Players often don't look at all stats just share numbers so here it is. Type-10 armour rating is 75.

350? I've got DD5 on it now and I can tell you I'm only hitting 305 on boost... It's gonna take one heck of a god roll to get to 350.

Good news on the FSD, looks like I'll keep my normal T9's as freighters, use the T-10 for deep space miners and heavy multi purpose. Hopefully it still retains the T9's bridge?

You can, 8A Prismatics and Heavy Duty Boosters, but those are flimsy shields.

8A reinforced with 8x stock boosters got mine up to 1750, so i can definetly see that. Personally I'd mix Resistance boosters to make the shields count more.

The catch is a Cutter with a 6A Prismatic and 6x boosters can have 3k shields with good resists in comparison while hauling 700 tonnes of cargo.

T10 has to choose - shields or cargo.

AFIK its the same.

Only issue I've had so far with the Type-10 is the sloggier-than-hell SC performance. Pitch isn't bad but Yaw is HORRID.

Pretty sad when it performs better out of SC than it does in SC.
