Type of a rank mission change if I wait long enough?

Ok, so I finally noticed that there's my first rank mission available (who know for how long... it's kinda hard to detect). Problem is... it's a fighting mission level "Competent"... So my question is... do I get a different (maybe non-combat) rank mission if I wait long enough? Or do I HAVE to take this rank mission? I've never fought a single fight! I don't think I can handle a competent enemy.

If you leave the station and come back, or visit another system, you will likely have a different type of mission. They seem to be "random" to me.

All the follow-up / chained missions change on exiting the station menu & re-entering - including the rank up missions. It's also quite handy if you want to do assassination missions against specific factions as those factions can also change (for the follow-up missions).

You don't even have to leave the station or go into outfitting, just close the mission board and re open it and ranking up and chained missions are changed instantly.
Simple as that, enjoy...

Yeah, just wanted to increase the rep first so I can choose more options - and ended up with a delivery mission to Hutton Orbital. Well, at least I will be able to say "I was there!". Once...
