I sight a really bright red star against the galaxy. Looking like a small neutron with two jets. I never heard of a red neutron (or white dwarf) so I looked then realsied parallax, the object was moving against the background starfield, like a planet. Then I realised it was leaving a track behind it!
No ship contacts, astronomical objects in system all accounted for, no signal sources of any kind in range. It didn't look like a ship in sc (wrong colour) and it's not a local star or planet, so I was able to follow, slowly (<1Mm/sec) or I overtook it. Soon as I got into position to take a screenshot of course the object did disappear. It was visible in total for about 30 seconds during which I'd tried to target (no dice).
It's trail is shown screenshot below. I can't think of anything else in ED that leaves a wake like this in supercruise.
Have any contacts like this been reported before?
ps. I'm not long out of space dock. No onionhead aboard!
