Ua: Solved it! :)

I have tried various combinations of straight binary, signed binary, one's complement, two's complement, ternary* and balanced ternary. No luck and no patterns that I can see from any of it.
And I've tried all sorts of Morse stuff to no avail including branching trees (gets too big very quickly) with arbitrary lengths of separation between words. :(

It has at least been fun to do. :)

*by looking at the stream as "up-shift, steady, down-shift."

Some of the musically inclined have suggested that the tones vary not only from high to low tones but also occasionally pitch up a little, so you might get low/low/high/low/high/slightly higher low.

It might be worth listening out for these tweaked tones as they might indicate where your word breaks are.

Actually after listening to it, it appears to be from firm telling you you may be eligable for PPI and to give tnem a call. With interest you could be in line for an amount of between 75m and 100m cr...

Interestingly enough, I was thinking about something very similar to this recently.

(Though I forget which film this is, tbh...)

I was watching a film a few weeks back wherein these humans found an alien artefact which turned out to be a massive bomb that "sits" within the 9th (I think) dimension. THe idea behind it was that it was built by an alien race that for no other reason than the fact that they are joy-killing bar-stewards, would leave these Unkown Artefact (Bombs) for other races to discover.

The exploring race would marvel over it and take it back to their planet to investigate it further.
At which point, the race would simply detonate it and it would wipe out the entire galaxy the explorer race lived in.

I think we should put the artefact back where it was found... lol

It seems the more work is done to decipher this thing the more confusing it gets.

One thing I noticed though while looking at the video where Cmdr Red Wizard reveals the artefact: (you can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKT6CVKclZg )

At around one minute the one filming uses the debug cam to zoom in to a close up of the artefact. Some seconds later you can hear some very peculiar sounds. The best description would be "chittering".

I have not seen anybody analysing this sounds, but I have to admit that I could not follow every post made the last days. Still, this chittering reminds me of something but I cahn't but the finger on it...

I tried speeding it up and slowing it down, but no luck making sense of it. Maybe someone else has an insight, or maybe this has already been analysed...

I noticed this the other day. How big are these? Big enough for baby Tharglets? Or are they just acting as relays for something else, like communication sats do.

Do these things make the same noises no matter which system they are listened in? If it changes, does it stay constant for each system ie if you go back to a previous system does it's noise make of what it was previously or a different one? If each system is unique, then money is a beacon of some kind. Work out what coordinate system they use, and see if that helps any.

So far only found in SSSs. Look for a Federation Convoy, Type 9, Anacondas, Vultures, various others. Cargo Scan the T9 to see it. The convoy will start a dialogue about strange things happening. You can try and lure away the T9 with cargo scans, spooking it enough to leave the escorts, or wait for the UA to eat it's way out of the Cargo Hatch and scoop it up. It will corrode your ship while you carry it. Been found in several system but no pattern discovered yet apart from Federation systems. 109 V, Timocani, some others.
Hmm. If it corrodes the ship that's carrying it, I wonder what would happen if you abandoned one while at a space station. Anyone know of any particularly expendable stations out there?

That reminds me of the Babylon 5 episode "A Day In The Strife," the one about the alien probe that tested the crew with a bunch of questions.

If it does lead to a website, I wonder if it will be a series of puzzles or challenges that have to be overcome.

Just like in the book "Ready Player One"

It might also be an email address
