Ugh! I can't stop seeing this - does this bug any one else

I will hide it in spoilers because it might be the case that you have never seen it and I don't want to be the one that points out the now you see it, you can't unsee it thing.

When the jump drive has spooled up and you are waiting to jump the little round target locator top right of the scanner starts to flash. If you look at the bottom of the speedo on the right of the scanner you can see the top of the target locator's flash. Presumably FDev used an icon sheet for HUD elements and the speedo is located above the target locator thingy on the sheet. I think the cut off point wasn't drawn quite right, either it was cut too much off the top of the target thingy or not enough on the speedo.

Does it bug anyone else?

If you look closely, to the left of the 0 on the speedometer you can see the pulsating effect from the compass bleeding through a bit.
Probably an error with a texture atlas as you said.
Nice but annoying spot.

It coincides with your blinky lights, not the radar.

Well if I'm honest, you're normally funny and a good sport on here mate, even when I just randomly called you Simon for a whole thread!

So until you want to give up your stuphz for real, I wouldn't feel dishonourable enough to try and simply steal it!! ;)



This is a lesson people - be fun and give as good as you get, and you'll keep your stuphz for longer. Not much, but even a day is longer!

It’s been around for quite a while and is one of those minor annoyances that made me look right up close in VR to see what the bloody thing was 😅
the compass jobby on the left side of the scanner pulses blue when the jump drive is charging, but a small bit of background pulsing blue glow that I assume should be below it, is actually on the right side of the scanner. With VR I was able to lean forward and see that it wasn't a reflection on the dash, and might actually be a bit of leftover stuff from when the compass jobby was on that side.

Yeah, it's indeed a ball ache. And very noticable in VR. I do think it is one of those texture template sheet thingies; the ones that have a range of HUD elements, like crosshairs - if know what I mean? I wonder if the UV coords for the textures perhaps misaligned, which might be a smidge more noticable in VR because of the adjusted view angle? Don't know.

But I do know that is why I hate VR. I am "definitely" not going to get a G2 (or get an even more powerful GPU so I can max the Q2 slider to native), just so I can see that annoying effect in even more definition than the Q2 now, which already makes it pretty crystal clear as is. And once I have seen it in more detail I will do my utmost to grumble about it with gusto. ;)
