Engineers Ugly Rendering on Planet Approach since Engineers Release.

Hi everyone,

I really like the Engineers. I totally respect most decisions of the FD team, such as the new AI and the way the engineers work. My only issue, and that's a big one, is the poor rendering on planets...and it's awfully ugly. I saw a thread of Obsidian Ant during the Beta but nothing more since release. I don't know how it was during the beta but for now it's really disappointing. Low res textures and popping topography and details at low altitude flight even if I put EVERYTHING on max settings.

Yesterday I was doing a planetary surface mission and there was a ridiculously obvious loss of quality between what was at 100m in front of me and the terrain at a few kilometers (settlement).

Details pop, but pop very late...even if I put GPU work to MAX in an attempt to solve this problem, in the terrain rendering options.

So what is it going on? Is it "officially" fixed since release? Do we have to wait for some patch? I'll try to tweak the gameconfig file tonight.... :D

Sorry if it's been asked already but I didn't find any thread related to this since release (it's been talked about during the Beta then nothing).

This is a known issue, and reported during beta, they are working on fixing it. It is due to the new rendering setup they created.

This is a weird one. The graphics upgrade between 2.0 and 2.1 have been superb on my bootcamped iMac. No more polygons on the ground. Lovely textures on foreground and at a distance. Not to mention the mist in deep craters... 4gig AMD (mobile, it is an iMac  ) here.

I hope this is sorted out quickly for you guys.
