Ugly Species Animal Pack

EDIT: Ok, I'm realizing the mistake of calling it the "Ugly pack" when in reality it's the "Weird Animals" pack. Is it possible to change the title? If not, let's make this a "Weird Animals" pack


So, people obviously wanna go see giant pandas or elephants or all the cute animals. But, there are certain animals that are weird and are hidden in the shadows. This thread is to make an 8-species animal pack with only weird animals. I'd love to see what y'all come up with. Only rule is: it has to fit the current way PZ is (example: no flying birds or small exhibit mammals. Sorry, mole rats and condor).


My idea would be:

1. Aye-Aye - an ugly lemur
2. Maribou stork - I mean, aren't they also known as undertaker birds?
3. Brown hyena - a 2nd hyena would be good for variety
4. Wild boar - these things are big, mean, and ugly
5. Musk deer - not the ugliest on the list, but pretty strange looking so I added them
6. Virginia opposum - they look kinda like rats and are a decent size, compared to capuchins and meerkats
7. Platypus - I know, sort of controversial because they're only really in Australian zoos, but they'd be perfect here
8. Axolotl - our exhibit animal. They're cute/ugly, like bingturongs


Note: I don't know if all these species can live in captivity. I know most here can, but I'm on the line about the deer. Anyways, here y'all go

2. Bald Ukari - redheaded monkey
3. Naked molerat - skinny tumor
4. Elephantseal - chonkyseal of fatness
5. Tarsier - scary big eyed tree baby
6. Aligator snapping turtle - small godzilla
7. any kind of pig - i think they are cute, but also kinda ugly, most popular would proppably be redriver hog
8. Golden snub-nosed monkey - lord voldemort

It’s too subjective a lot of the animals y’all mentioned I don’t consider ugly but I get it. (General consensus)

As stated before, ugly is very subjective. It's also probably not a good strategy to try to sell a dlc by marketing it as filled with ugly animals.

While weirdness is also a subjective concept, it would work much better to sell a dlc with. Plenty of "ugly" animals fit in the "weird" category as well.
1. Aye-Aye - Out of all the lemurs, the aye-aye is objectively the odd one out.
2. Shoebill Stork - Decently popular, adds more birds.
3. Platypus - Like, duh. Could work really well as the flagship animal of the pack.
4. South American Coati - I don't see this animal talked about too much here, despite making it to the top 30 on the meta-wishlist (ranked at no.26 as of writing). They're incredibly common in captivity worldwide and add to the variety of South American animals, as well as more arboreal species.
5. Saiga Antelope - While not common in captivity anymore, there are most likely still institutions that hold this absurd relic from the past. Adds another cold-loving ungulate with a funky nose (gotta have at least one animal with a funky nose).
6. Fossa - Another Madagascan animal. This time, the apex predator.
7. Maned Wolf - An incredibly popular and odd looking canine. Omnivorous and representing the more grassy areas of South America. What more can you ask for?
E. Could be literally anything. There's so much room for creativity in the exhibit department. Every animal group currently in exhibits has multiple candidates. There's also plenty of groups not represented (like salamanders, which the axolotl could rep).

There are plenty of animals already in the game that could've made this list honestly:
Base Game: Aardvark, Baird's Tapir, Chinese Pangolin, Gharial
South America Pack: Giant Anteater
Australia Pack: Southern Cassowary
Southeast Asia Animal Pack - Basically all of it aside from the Dhole

I personally don't think any of these are ugly. I was meaning compared to like a panda or something. I love the platypus. Ahh, this was a mistake🙈


Seriously though, I agree with @DragonNTiger that it's a relative term

I agree, but after realizing my mistake that not all animals were ugly, I have decided to make it a "Weird Animals" pack. I'm hoping a moderator could maybe change the title, but it's no big deal.

Ok everyone, I changed it to a brown hyena. I was for some reason comparing them to spotted hyenas
