Engineers Ultimate Diamondback Explorer Stealth Ship

So here in beta I show an example of how a station observation would go. Quick and dirty test, I know placement wasn't ideal.
I do skim through modules so pause where required to work out the build.

Heat sinks have an additional ammo, Powerplant is obviously low emissions, engines are clean drive and FSD is shielded as it lowers thermal stuff. Not that it matters as I turned the FSD off.

Idle at 7% heat without anything online. Activated silent running at 20:44:37 and the heat increases from 7% to 10% at 20:46:55 so total time of exactly 2 mins and 18 sec for 3% heat.

Assuming a round 2 minutes per 3% heat (being very generous) that's a total of just over 1hr in silent running before I need to use a heat sink... And with 16 heat sinks that's considerable especially considering they'll lower the ship down to below the 7% idle that it started at above. Overall I'd guestimate somewhere in the region of 18-20hrs of continuous silent running.

I did have sensors activated which could also be turned off.

Note I did get scanned, the NPCs still have incredible Mk II eyeballs.

Later in the vid I activated thrusters to see how a re-position would go with thrusters online. A decent manoeuvre around to a new position and still very low heat (~24% after reposition) and nowhere near needing to use one of the 16 heat sinks. :D

Obviously not great for being useful as a ship but interesting how this edge case build works.

Edit: Also yes I'm hanging my head in shame for not naming the ship something like Sub-Zero or anything....

Idling is pointless, but realistically flying around without boost you can last about 5 minutes in "stealth mode" with a decent build, as soon as you add weapons and boost, forget it you need heat syncs and lots of

but using it in practical terms and escaping in reality its hotter, interdicted next to a hot star and lasers to the hull didn't help - but its possible to evade damage, well 2% vs a python with only 2 pips in eng is pretty impressive in my eyes.

but generally (not at idle) my DBx runs at 7% heat all systems powered bar power distributor (don't need that can't boost in this build), flying around with ice on your cockpit is actually a thing!

Impressive!

As I said mine was really an edge case build. User on reddit asked the question for a non-combat, none function ship (except unshielded trade perhaps) so I whipped up a vid real quick and was surprised with the results so thought I'd share.

if you have the black paint job its also a very effective ship in open CG as non of the CG campers have a clue your even there until they see a black dot going through the mail slot, deliver cargo then silent run yourself back out of there, you can sit in the station for a couple of minutes doing nothing (idling) waiting for the opportunity to leave

sending them a mystery local message of o7 is always fun as they scurry round like the cockroaches they are looking for you.
