Ultimate pack wishlists meta analysis

So, @Matyej167, @gorilla warrior, myself and probably a few others have published a few topics in the Wishlist subsection to ask people about their ideas for possible future packs, and I've been wondering for a while what it would look like if we looked at the results from all those threads, compared them and tried to guess what kind of packs could actually be made out of those.
For clarification, I will only use topics where forum members votes were counted and sorted out, and if one isn't up to date I will use the last update of the original post as a point of reference rather than count all votes myself. I will also count out the wishlists that were not associated with a dlc idea, such as the ones about clades.

@Matyej167's wishlists:

Final DLC
Certainly the biggest of the bunch with nearly 50 voters if I counted correctly, probably because of its theme but also because it allows for 30 votes. That being said, I will still use the traditional 5 to 8 animals per pack model here.
With that, we get muskox (24 votes), secretary bird (21 votes), Goodfellow's tree kangaroo (18 votes + 3 votes for any tree kangaroo), South American coati (15 votes + 5 votes for any coati), walrus (20 votes), Patagonian mara (15 votes + 2 for any mara) and short-beaked echidna (15 votes + 2 for any echidna), with grey crowned crane (16 votes) as another strong contender. In any case, it looks like a nice and diverse line-up with species from almost every biome and continent.
The main candidate as an exhibit animal would be the scarlet macaw (5 votes + 6 for any macaw), though if a dlc with 5 walkthrough/aviary animals following the Grasslands model was followed, it could be accompanied with yellow and blue (3 votes), hyacinth (2 votes) and military (1 vote) macaws, and a fifth one to be determined. If the macaws were to be discarded for being flying birds, then the next candidates would be panther chameleon (3 votes + 5 for any chamelon) or king cobra (8 votes).

Africa DLC
The main candidates would be the secretary bird (20 votes and also the main candidate to be the pack's mascot with 3 votes), and serval (20 votes), followed by the grey crowned crane (15 votes), Nile crocodile (10 votes), greater kudu (8 votes), masai giraffe (8 votes) and either the gerenuk, rock hyrax and shoebill (7 votes).
The main candidate for an exhibit animal would be Jackson's chameleon (9 votes + 2 for any chameleon).

Coastal DLC
Here we have sea otter (just like the secretary bird above, 22 votes and main candidate to be the pack's mascot with 4 votes), walrus (19 votes), brown pelican (9 votes + 1 for any pelican) and marine iguana (9 votes) for a scenery pack, and the southern elephant seal (8 votes), coconut tree crab (7 votes + 1 for any crab) and West Indian manatee (7 votes + 1 for any manatee).
For an exhibit pack, the main choices would be Christmas island red crab (2 votes + 1 for any crab) or barred mudskipper (2 votes + 1 for any mudskipper).

Temperate DLC
In this one we get American black bear (14 votes, main candidate as pack mascot with 2 votes), short-beaked echidna (10 votes each) and North American porcupine (8 votes), wild turkey, golden snub-nosed monkey and wapiti/elk (6 votes each) and either the Eurasian otter (5 votes) or Reeve's muntjac (4 votes + 1 for any muntjac).
The main candidates for an exhibit would be either the tuatara (4 votes) or another Grasslands style 5 exhibit animal thing with hummingbirds, with the ruby-throated, black-chinned, Anna's, Costa's and Allen's hummingbirds each getting 1 vote, plus 4 for "any hummingbird".

East Asia DLC
This time, we get the golden snub-nosed monkey (10 votes), mandarin duck (7 votes), Chinese aligator (6 votes), Reeve's muntjac (6 votes), golden pheasant (5 votes), Japanese serow (5 votes) and sika deer (5 votes).
As for exhibit animals, the main candidates would be the Chinese giant salamander (4 votes), or the Chinese crocodile lizard (2 votes) if the former is considered a habitat animal.

West Asia DLC
Lastly the most recent one that was updated right as I was also re-writing this post. It starts with the Arabian oryx (6 votes), golden jackal (5 votes) and Northern bald ibis (4 votes), then the rock hyrax and syrian brown bear (3 votes each), and finally we would have to pick two out of the four between the Arabian leopard, Arabian bustard, Arabian tahr and bezoar ibex (2 votes).
In terms of exhibit, the veiled chameleon (2 votes) is ahead.

Others:
Latin America DLC: closed
Children's Zoo DLC: not enough votes so far

My wishlists:

South Asia DLC

My very first and most successful one. Our main candidates are the gaur (10 votes), Northern plains gray langur (8 votes + 1 for any langur), chital (8 votes), fishing cat (7 votes), demoiselle crane (5 votes), Northern red muntjac (5 votes) and either the Indian giant squirrel or the rhesus macaque (4 votes each), which I'm quite satisfied with to be honest.
The main candidate for an exhibit animal would quite clearly be the king cobra (11 votes + 3 for any cobra), it even beats all the habitat animals. It's worth noting that some people want it as a habitat animal itself, which would leave us with the Indian burrowing frog or Indian star tortoise (1 vote each) as the only other options.
As of now, there's no clear candidate for a mascot as we have four different animals with only one vote each.

Tundra DLC
This time, we have the return of the walrus (14 votes and main candidate as a mascot with 5 votes) as well as the muskox (13 votes), followed by the Arctic hare (10 votes), Western rockhopper penguin (6 votes + 1 for any penguin), sea otter (6 votes each), and two out of the three between Atlantic puffin, leopard seal and king eider (5 votes each).
Finally, the main candidate for an exhibit animal would be the Norway lemming (7 votes + 1 for any lemming), but if that's not possible because rodents don't belong in exhibits we have the wood frog (2 vote).

Pacific Ocean DLC
This one is still lagging behind, but I'm now satisfied enough with the number of votes to present it here. The clear winner here is the green sea turtle (8 votes, and also first place as a mascot with 4 votes) followed by the nene (6 votes). We then have the marine iguana (4 votes), sea otter (4 votes), Goodfellow's tree kangaroo (4 votes) and Short-beaked echidna (3 votes). We then have a tie between 7 different species for the 7th place, which is a bit too much for a full breakdown but I'll put forward the Hawaiian monk seal and Southern elephant seal (2 votes each) as representants of the same family.
Regarding exhibits, in first place we have the regal blue tang (3 votes), but if fishes are out of the question we can always fall back on the yellow-bellied sea snake (2 votes).

Others:
Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean DLC's: not enough votes

@gorilla warrior's wishlists:

Highlands DLC
This last wishlist would contain the domestic yak (5 votes, and just as much putting it as the main candidate as a mascot) and, if it's a scenery pack, three out of the four between the rock hyrax, Himalayan monal, guanaco and gelada (5 votes each). For an animal pack, in addition to all of the previously mentioned candidates, it would add the Alpine marmot and mountain goat (4 votes each).
The main candidates as an exhibit animal would be either the Japanese giant salamander (4 votes) or, if it's considared more suited to be a habitat animal, the adder (2 votes).

Ok, it took me a while but hopefully it was an informative and not too boring read. Also, don't hesitate to go on those various topics to give your opinion if you haven't done so already!

Gonna be completely honest, we didn't need a swarm of wishlist threads (let alone being done by 3 separate people). At best, it generated a lot of redundancy alleviated by the already in-place meta-wishlist by Suzie. At worst, it generated a bunch of spam in the forum section and made it unbearable to navigate.

You were just following the crowd. I don't know who started it, but ultimately the trend just made for something that seemed rather pointless and bloated IMO

Ok, first big update on this thread following the Asia pack announcement!

Please note that with scenery packs being now even more obviously a thing of the past, I will stop distinguishing between candidates for animal or scenery packs.

Final DLC:
  • Muskox: 22 votes > 24
  • Secretary bird: 20 votes > 21
  • Goodfellow's tree kangaroo: 17+3 votes > 18+3
  • South American coati: 14+4 votes > 15+5
  • Walrus: 17 votes > 20
  • Patagonian mara: 14+2 votes > 15+2
  • Grey crowned crane: 15 votes > 16
  • Short-beaked echidna: ? > 15+2 votes
  • King cobra: 7 votes > 8
  • Macaws & panther chameleon: no change
Walrus is now tied with the South American coati and king cobra with panther chameleon. The short-beaked echidna is also now ahead of the grey crowned crane if we count the "any" votes.

It's worth noting that every single animal in the Asia pack except for the Japanese racoon dog had votes in this wishlisth, but none of them was placed high enough to make it to the top.

Safari Africa pack:
  • Serval: 19 votes > 20
  • Nile crocodile: 9 votes > 10
  • Masai giraffe: 7 votes > 8
  • Shoebill: ? > 7 votes
  • Secretary bird, grey crowned crane, greater kudu, gerenuk & rock hyrax: no change
  • Honey badger: added to the game
  • Jackson's chameleon: 8+2 votes > 9+2
With the addition of the honey badger and a few additional votes, the lineup has slightly changed. The shoebill is now also a relevant candidate, as it caught up with the gerenuk and rock hyrax.

It's worth noting that the thread has changed its name.

Coastal pack:
  • Sea otter: 20 votes > 22 ; 3 mascot votes > 4
  • West Indian manatee: 6 votes > 7+1
  • Walrus, brown pelican, marine iguana, southern elephant seal, coconut tree crab & green sea turtle: no change
  • Exhibit animals: no change
Not many changes, the animal in first place is even further ahead and the West Indian manatee has received a few votes, unlike the green sea turtle which is stuck at 6 votes and thus isn't a valid candidate anymore.

Temperate pack:
  • American black bear: 13 votes > 14
  • North American porcupine: 9 votes < 8
  • Eurasian otter: ? > 5 votes
  • Reeve's muntjac: ? > 4+1 votes
  • Short-beaked echidna, wild turkey, golden snub-nosed monkey, wapiti: no change
  • Japanese racoon dog: added to the game
  • Exhibit animals: no change
Not many changes either in terms of votes, but the Japanese racoon dog having been added to the game leaves room for the Eurasian otter and Reeve's muntjac.

East Asia pack:
  • Golden snub-nose monkey: 7 votes > 10
  • Mandarin duck: 6 votes > 7
  • Chinese alligator: 5 votes > 6
  • Reeve's muntjac: 4 votes > 6
  • Japanese serow: 4 votes > 5
  • Golden pheasant & Sika deer: ? > 5 votes
  • Demoiselle crane: no change
  • Japanese racoon dog & Père David's deer: added to the game
  • Giant Salamanders: 1 vote for Chinese, 1 vote for Japanese, 1 vote for any > 4 for Chinese, 2 for Japanese
  • Chinese crocodile lizard: no change
This one gets a lot of changes, with both the Japanese racoon dog and Père David’s deer having been added to the game and quite a few new votes having been cast. The golden snub-nosed monkey is now the undisputed star of this theoretical pack, and the golden pheasant and sika deer are now serious candidates. On the other hand, the demoiselle crane has stagnated and is for now out of the picture.

South Asia pack:
  • Gaur: 9 votes > 10
  • Northern plains gray langur: 7+1 votes > 8+1
  • Chital: 6 votes > 8
  • Fishing cat: 6 votes > 7
  • Demoiselle crane & northern red muntjac: ? > 5 votes
  • Indian giant squirrel & rhesus macaque: ? > 4 votes
  • Blackbuck, lion-tailed macaque, honey badger & nilgai: added to the game
  • King cobra: 9+3 votes > 11+3
Four very relevant species have been added to the game with the Asia pack, opening the way to four other ones, so the lineup here has completely changed and yet the topic of this thread is still relevant. The king cobra is now the big star, and clearly the only possible exhibit animal with so many votes. The gaur is now the main candidate among the clearly habitat ones. Aside from that, we welcome the demoiselle crane, northern red muntjac, Indian giant squirrel and rhesus macaque among this possible lineup.

Tundra pack:
  • Muskox: 12 votes > 13
  • Walrus: 11 votes > 14
  • Arctic hare: 9 votes > 10
  • Western rockhopper penguin: 4+1 votes > 6+1
  • Sea otter: 5 votes > 6
  • Leopard sea & king eiderl: 4 votes > 5
  • Atlantic puffin: no change
  • Wood frog: 1 vote > 2
  • Norway lemming: no change
