Un-pledging in PP

I just want to try a taste of PP but I have a question *:

I understand that I can un-pledge if I want (not sure how yet) but, if I do, what happens to my faction standing in a) the power I've quit from and b) any hostility build-up I may have garnered from other powers?

* I have absolutely no idea about PP; never tried PP1, let alone 2, so it'll be a nice magical mystery tour for me.

As far as I know, you just lose all your ranking (&benefits) from the power you unpledged from - including access to that power's stronghold carriers. The power modules you earned so far you keep though you can't get any more (needs stronghold carrier access). Basically, you start from zero again.

No assassination squads either unlike PP 1.0 (lasted two weeks then).

Thank you! (y)

It'll be obvious once you've pledged - the challenge is mainly not pressing it accidentally!

This isn't really a thing in PP2 - other powers are "hostile" while you're pledged, but that's just a constant (and fairly low-level) effect. They don't get more hostile as you do more or gain rank.

What little there is does end immediately when you unpledge; any minor faction bounties you acquired doing Powerplay stuff will be kept, though.

A couple of questions here:

1. I assume benefits include also any unused / partially used care packages?
2. Are all unlocked PP modules available only at stronghold carriers of the power pledged to? So one couldn't for example... I dunno... get them with the LYR discount... if one wanted to?

I don't believe anything is available as far as outfitting is concerned at a stronghold carrier. It does not seem to have that option on the menu.

re: #1 - I frankly don't know. Hopefully someone reading this thread who has unpledged with a lot of unopened care packages can answer.

re:#2 - Just to be clear, I haven't unlocked my first PP module yet. But all or most of the outfitting I've done is at my Power's stronghold carriers which you can only dock at if you're pledged to that Power. Some stronghold carriers are better equipped than others as far as outfitting is concerned. But all carry a rich variety of modules, they even have the experimental ones.

The caustic sinks though, which I unlocked with the resident Tech Broker at the Rescue ship at Luyten's star don't seem to be available at the (stronghold) carriers I frequent.
