Un-Targetting

But of a Noob question.....

I'm using gimballed weapons, the target dumps chaff, so I want to un-target it, to get my gimbals to act as fixed.

How do I un-target it when it is dead ahead?

Thanks

I always use the 'next navigation target' button, the one you can use when planning routes to switch back to the next jump.

Don't know the correct designation, on mobile atm

Not in game at the moment but I use "t" which targets and un-targets, I think it's the default button (for PC's). TBH I've never noticed if they're directly ahead when I've tried it but give it a go if you have access to the game.

Why not just use fixed weapons? It's much more fun and you learn a LOT more about the games mechanics this way.

I'm using the fixed C4PA, and can practice using the gimbals as fixed now

Just FA off and reverse flying to learn now

:)

C4 PA won't teach you much since it's all or nothing. Very tough to learn from spotty feedback. Mostly good for hitting other large ships, and that won't teach you anything, since big ships are as easy to hit as a barn.

I assume you are flying an FDL? Try a C3 fixed beam and 4 fixed MCs. And go for small/med fast targets. That will teach how NPCs fly, and that will in turn teach how you can fly too. And of course how to aim ;)

I used to enjoy messing with people- when I would engage with gimbals I don't target them. Quite often they think I have fixed weapons and start to slack off. When they are out of visual range (i.e. they cannot see me fire) I use my gimbals and deselect when I think they can see.

Amazingly some pilots stop using chaff, so I can happily chew them up for free. It does not always work, but its a fun battle of wits.

Fixed weapons are nice though. The sheer power of some v gimballed is crazy.
