Unable to plot boosted jump

ed-png.320632

I've been away from ED for quite some time and just got back to it (just in time to miss all the lore drops about the thargoin, because luck). I'm trying to plot a neutron boosted jump, but the game keeps plotting short jumps instead. I made sure to check both "Fastest Routes" and "Use Jet-Cone Boost", and, my laden jump range is 240.96 at the moment (as seen on the screenshot). But the map just doesn't want to plot a 240.65 LY jump. Not even if I select one system before that one, it'll still try and plot short jumps. Should I report this on the tracker?

You can’t plot a boosted jump, just select the destination and jump there.

You can plot a route to use jet cone boosts though* - so presumably just not using the boost you just charged up? (that doesn't read very well, sorry)

* Or has that been broken?

personally I plot a route then see which if the furthest star along that is is within boosted jump range and pick that as the solitary boosted iump target
trying to make that one a kgb foam star

Your problem is that you got the boost from non-primary star and the router doesn't understand that. Beta Sculptoris B is a common Bubble example. The workaround is to "Set Target" a star within range on the galaxy map so you can jump to that.

The galaxy map should really at least recognise that you somehow got the cone boost and be able to replot if you open the map after getting it. That'd make it more tolerable.

Makes sense. Well, not the fact it doesn't recognize secondary neutron stars, but the reason why it doesn't plot. Thanks for the insight!

I understand why. The plotter is predictive ('...and here he will get jet cone boost') and doesn't know if you actually got the boost or not. If it started plotting routes to subcomponent neutron stars, some might be far too far away and require too much supercruise, end up using up more time than saving. 18 Camelopardalis C with 90k ls from entry point is a Bubble example of this. I think the most workable solution is what I presented in the previous post. Would make jumponium boosts bit nicer to use too.

Anyways, this thread was useful for me too, because it gave me an idea of a secondary NS route to Guardian space. I plotted one out and bookmarked it for my squadron. For anyone interested, it's: Jackson's Lighthouse - HIP 41817 B - M Puppis 35347 B - HIP 37966 B (already in Guardian space, use for return trip). HIP 41817 might be too off course and better to skip if your jump range isn't too good, tho.
