Unable to update steam version

Hi Cmdrs, after the hotfix 1 has been realesed i can't update anymore elite, steam says that the game need an update that i have to set automatic updates for the game in hig priority and then relaunch steam but noting change. It closes the launcher preventing me to update odyssey. Anyone has the same problem?

exact same problem

The game update issue, I've found a work around by going to your game folder (right click Elite Dangerous in Steam games list or use the cog on the right of the game page, choose Manage and Browse local files), once there open EDLaunch.exe, log in using your Elite Dangerous credentials and then you should be able to update, after the update has installed the launcher should run normally again via Steam.

Tried this and doesn't seem to want to work at all, it just freezes :(
It's weird, I was able to play yesterday...

It took quite some time to update, looked like it wasn't doing anything just stuck on the preparing update message and no progress on the bar at first, I left it about 20-30 minutes and came back.

IVE FOUND A FIX FOR THOSE WHO CANNOT UPDATE AFTER THE 'HOTFIX' AND ARE ASKED TO CLOSE THE CLIENT..

fix for those who have not been able to update since the ‘Hotfix’: run > %appdata% > delete all frontier related folders. Do it again in %localappdata% and delete elite dangerous out of the steam folder (x86>steam>common)
Go to steam and uninstall ed. Reinstall.

Thanks for buggering off for the weekend and leaving us all stranded fdev
and to the social media team thank you for trying to resolve issues and giving us some type of news....

Thanks, this seems to be working for me. After login I got the option to upgrade.

it worked for me, tnx for the tip. The problem present itself again when a new patches are deployed but the workkaround works again for me. I was thinking that propbably the issue is caused by the fact that i have bought the alpha on the frontier store. A friend of mine that bought the alpha on steam has not this problem. O7

Same problem here!
Trying the suggested fix via EDLaunch ... and definitley not happy with this release policy.

After a week full of hard work I was looking for some entertainment with a long awaited game update which I payed for months ago.
Yes, I have been patient! Yes, I know errors can happen! But know I want to PLAY THIS GAME!!!
