Can you explain in more detail? Are you saying you can go from Orbit to instantly being at the Beacon? (No Glide)

Correct Driver. When approaching a surface tourist beacon, you can drop from SC at 1000km and arrive circa 10 km from the beacon.

i hope that is a bug as that is cutting out half of the experience for me.

Does sound like a bug. Like Being at a Surface port, removing the Approach suite in outfitting, hitting launch and blasting into orbit at hyperspeed. Was quite amusing doing that.

This sounds like you "NavLocked" the beacon.

I don't. I think it probably is a bug, albeit a possibly useful one. I'm off to report it now.

Half of that stuff that is not really necessary. They should minimize it.

Bug report logged. We shall see what they say. Could have been useful for dropping i on fumaroles or such for prospecting. But such is life.

Have you considered it might not be a bug. Perhaps it's early release of non-atmospheric body approach with the 'Glide Approach' to be reserved for approaching bodies with Atmoshphere.

If that's the case and it's working as intended, they will leave it as it is

Well if is not a bug, the good people at FD will let me know in my bug thread. If it is as you suggest, it should also be applicable to any non-atmospheric approach. I have not tried one of these since the update, but I am sure others have. Perhaps one who has can tell us if the same is true for any planetary approach.

I suspect it is not the case.

Just an update: Not having played much at all since I started this thread, I just did my first tourist run in a month. You can still drop from SC at 1000km right on top of surface beacons. There has been no response to my bug report. So, working as intended??

I have it too, I noticed few days ago and I hate it... [mad]
Not for the easy approach, but for the "non-seamless" experience. From orbit to surface in an eye blink [woah]

You can still approach to it "manually" if you discard the SAFE DISENGAGE message.
Anyway this only works with Tourist Beacon, not with Geological/Biological/Alien site.
