Unanswered questions on the Create stream (full rotation and hitboxes)

1. No full rotating every scenery piece back answer. They really dont want to implement it it seems. They even put a "grid" background on the scenery pieces buttons like walls and roofs to differentiate it from the full rotaing pieces. Some people said just wait, they never said they didnt want to put it, but its clear they dont and they dont want to actually answer us on that regard.
Now theres even frontier prefabs, theres nothing too complex in the building sytems like full rotating to not put it back.

2. They actually said you can create your own supports but actually, with the ride vs scenery pieces hitbox in alpha 2, it was pretty difficult or you simply couldnt. There needs to be no collision detection for scenery and rides so it would be perfectly possible (some pieces have super wonky hitboxes, vegetation is porbably the worst). Also for diagonal supports we would need actual beams with full rotation, as beams in the game right now dont have full rotation (they are on a grid system).

Thats the ones on top of my head right now, that compeltly limit creativity, if you have any more questions, letspost them here.

EDIT:
And also pieces not colorable like the orange brick wall (and very proabbly the pirate wall castle). WHY?
Tarmac texture is out. WHY?
Textures attached to locales isntead of being available in any. WHY?

Why the limits frontier, do it for campaing mode, but not for alpha nor sandbox.

1) They said about this actually in a live stream although a number missed it and also posted saying that the rotation was not intended. Honestly it isn't the end of the world. This is still by far more detailed for a "theme park" game than previous. If anything the lack of scaling objects is still the biggest issue here.

2) You can select where you place them so maybe there is an option to turn off clash detection or maybe you have to work around it to a point. Placing the supports first and then theming the area after would solve a lot of issues. Although I would suggest that clash detection for rides is always needed because you have minimum clear distances for them.

3) based on what we saw with some of the items like the bridge it looks like most could be coloured so maybe this will improve over time. Tarmac? I missed the first 10 mins so is that a reference to this?

4) Yes map textures to locals is not best but I believe it was something to do with the way the globe works. Although no reason I couldn't see this happening in the Sandbox mode later. The scenery is all there at least so it is just the textures missing.

Adam

Look, I sinceresly dont really want you to answer for them (not trying to be rude here, but you know the same as me right now, is the devs who know more than us). I want them to answer. You are saying maybe for most or trying to give them an excuse for not being there, and I want actual answers.
The bug thing was a stupid excuse, it limits creativity and I made a whole recreation park in apha 2 (using a workaround that will not work with the game going forward sadly) that wouldnt be possible without the "bug". When something is not possible even though it exists in real life, becuase of a stupid limitation (and not a gameplay wise or impossible one to do in a game, i totally understand those, but this is something this one is clearly not), you are already failing on your realistic vision (see the dev diaries to see how realistic possible they want everything in, that being audio or coaster builds). Im not asking them to implement something from thin air that was not in the game. It was there functioning pretty well, even if not intended, and I would like it to have it back, simple as that.
And it was not "answered" on a stream, it was answered with a simple line on the 2.2 alpha patchnotes, and never talked about it again, even when people continously asked. I have more of a problem with the total radio silence there.

Same about the scenery colors, why wait again with their radio silence. Its a bad implementation and would like them to fix, and Im going to tell them why I think it needs to be fixed. Im not going to wait, because then they will not know that people dont find it good enough, thats why I payed for the expensive alpha.

About the collision detection. No you dont need it (look at no collision detection for scenery and paths right now, is perfect). I dont know if you tried to make games before, but collision detection is something than when its not there, it doesnt stop anything groing through it (lets say the physics of a coaster or a ride, it will not stop them, even if you decided to put a wall on the middle of a track). So if a I want to put a lower roof over a flat ride (like some have on real life), the limits right now are wonky the majority of the times. Or if you want to put a scenery piece (or even worse a piece of vegetation) near a coaster track, you cant sometimes, because the hitboxes are wonky. Even if it would actually be realistic putting it near them, becuase the real coaster would actually never touch that part visually, the game think it does and will not let you. So why that limit. Let me choose what to put near or not, Im pretty sure people are intelligent enough to see whats realistic touching the coaster or ride to take it out of the way themeselves.

And the tarmac texture was a ground texture in alpha 2 that simulated man made tarmac, to create things like parkings for example. It was not in the streams and I want to ask why isntead of wait. It would be stupid to limit a man made texture to locales also (its stupid to limit any texture, but that decission of man made texture makes even less sense).

regarding the hit box comment they has said in the many bug reports that they were fixing a lot of them so wait and see how they act when you get alpha 3

Always with the wait. I already saw a new pine tree having a horrible hitbox when Flabiki tried to put it near a coaster track on the stream, the problem is there, and shuting up will not fix it.

You are missing some the points and as much as you say you are trying not to be rude that is exactly how it came across.

so you are saying you are so impatient and need the devs to stop what they are doing right this second to address your questions (that they have no obligation to answer) which may or may not be answered in another stream out of the many more that are to come than wait a few more days when alpha 3 comes out when you can see how things work?

If you have issues with how things work AFTER you played alpha 3 and watched the streams then by all means ask away to see if you can get an answer to one of your questions. No one is telling you to not ask your questions, we are just saying there is more information that that is going to come out in the streams the next few days plus you will find stuff when you play the next alpha so yes just wait

So how many alphas I need to wait until they resolve problems that are still there form the first one? when the game is released? alright guys.
I dont really want them to fix them right now, I only wnat real confirmation that they are working on it. Most of the things that were fixed (paths, coasters, etc...) actually got confirmation from them before they were fixed, while the things that we never got a word from them are still bad or broken.
Also the streams are already showing the alpha 3 is super wonky right now and missing things that were actually on alpha 2, really hoping they fix those problems for the 23.

As far as I know, an Alpha in programming is for addings stuff, beta is for bugfixing and finetuning btw.... I think the thing why they changed the path-stuff that fast was cause it's more important for enjoying the EA-stuff other than hitboxes. But in general I understand your point.

And thats why im asking all that. Everything I put there are quality of life improvements, addons and changes, not bugs. Once we go into the beta, very little of how things work will be changed, thats why i want them to talk about this things and see if they can add them now. Not in the beta, not in the game release.

+1

Same reason why i ask about tracked rides, water rides, omnimovers, etc ... as i would -assume- those needed to be tested in alpha before moving on to Beta.

I'm never a fan of taking stuff out of the game. If it isnt easy for the more casual player it shouldn't be taken out for everyone but it should be made optional for the diehard player.

Honnestly this game seem to continue to not want to give us stuff despite the majority askimg for it. The advance rotation is a special features. Even if all object in the game as it, it won't make noobs more confused.

Same wkth hit box And pre-themed ride. atleast give us the option!

The game visual design is 10/10 but the programming and features part is a mess. So many features that where a basic in rct3 can't even seem to be added in pc. It shohld be all of it and double more!

This game is in alpha, ALPHA! What are you expecting??? You don't want to wait - then tough!! You brought the ALPHA with the express condition that this is an UNFINISHED game! You are not entitled to anything from the devs, they are working their asses off to produce a game that is due for release in November. You paid £50 (or whatever) to get the game EARLY before it was finished.

I'm sorry, but why don't you stop whining, enjoy the tools and the amazing game you have been given - EARLY - and wait patiently like the rest of us until the game is actually finished and released.

Sure, I just want people to understand this is an Alpha and the game is still in development. You can't just EXPECT features when you expressly brought an alpha version. Anyway - Back to the park!!

while you are right it is alpha and still under development, his questions do have merit and without feedback we would not get the product we want.

My point was the OP has not played the new alpha so how does the OP know some of his issues were not fixed

There's not so much time remaining until release, so I hope they'll listen to one of the most requested feature, ability to rotate everything on 3 axis...

I don't think they haven't heard about it. Don't be that surprised if it doesn't happen though. For three possible (not probable, possible) reasons.

1. It is their game, and if they DON'T want you to have this functionality, you won't have it. Maybe with modding after launch, for those that care about it.

2. It can potentially mess up with the way they are factoring blueprints and sharing them online. Same goes for the way the game is supposed to handle grids.

3. It can potentially mess with the NPE (new player experience). And no, having an option for everything is NOT how game development works.

We have to wait and hear from them on this. I do think that giving feedback on every subject is pretty important in this phase, and I have no problem at all with people wanting this and talking about it.

As long as they do it the right way. Or else, it may actually have the exact opposite effect (FDEV is known for this - from Elite Dangerous).
