Unclaimed Bounties and Different Ships?

So, I have hundreds of thousands in unclaimed bounties (I'm a long, long way from Federal or Alliance space).

I'm currently flying an Adder, but I'm itching to get back in an Eagle. It's my understanding that the bounties are stored on the ships computer. So what I'm wondering is if I buy an Eagle and park the Adder can I die without worry of losing the bounties in the Eagle?

Has anyone tried this? I have a nasty feeling that the bounties go with the pilot, but are tied to the ship they are currently flying.

All I can say is that yesterday I changed from my Viper to my Cobra, and I retained the bounty vouchers. I already owned both ships though.
It would make sense that they would transfer to your new ship though.

You should keep them, I still have bounties I collected in my cobra and have since bought an eagle and viper and still have those bounties. I don't know if you'll keep them if you die though, they were supposed to be lost on death but that may have changed?

Bounties are apparently a bit finicky, so in your shoes I'd cash in on my bounties before getting into a new shiny.

That's actually quite a kicker as I'm about 350Ly from the core systems. I really like the place where I am at the moment as well: Pirate Anarchy StarPort with a good shipyard orbiting a ringed system with a resource extraction site about 22ls away. I think I'll probably have to trade up to a better ship than the Adder to make the journey back to civilisation.

Well I guess that changes things quite a bit. If you can make equal or larger amounts of money doing other stuff in the same time that you'd have to spend getting back to hand your bounties in, then it's pretty safe to just go for the new ship. If there's a difference between the two amounts of money, you'll just have to decide if you feel it's a risk worth taking.

Personally I'd probably go for it regardlessly since I am much better at giving people advice than I am at taking it...
