In an effort to show willing (call it therapy) and hoping to find some more substance to Update 13, I decided to cook up 100 unclassified relics in a Thargoid Device. (well, 102 actually). What speculation is there on the relative merits of selling to Prof Palin or Ram Tah? Do people think it makes a difference - aside from the fee they pay?

IMO it won't make a difference even if I don't sell any grelics to them. If they do happen to notify players who sold to them about a secret CG, it will be reported on the forum or reddit anyway and I believe we can still take part even if we didn't sell to them before.

I sold 2 Grelics to both engineers, and still have 6 for future CG (maybe) and I hope they will produce AX Shield Generator (maybe) to protect our weapons in HIP 22460
and future systems in the same state. (maybe). Congratulations to cmdr Angus to be patient enough to cook up 102 Grelics!!!

What was your rationale?
I just want something to happen, maybe if we all went for the same guy it would speed up the process.

I guess I rather have Guardian tech on my ship than that corrosive Thargoid stuff.
But I guess both roads could/would lead to the same hybrid tech. It's more about from which direction you want to start.
I hope it's not one of thise "either-or" moments again. Why can't Palin and Ram Tah work together on the unclassified relics? Palin would offer things that are more to the Thargoid side of things while Ram Tah offers things with a stronger Guardian touch.
I also hope FDev have finally learned their lesson with Odyssey that "grind" does not equal "content". Just because players are stuck grinding material for hours and hours to advance their powerlevel, it does not mean they enjoy that kind of activity. If this plot just leads to another layer of mindless and boring grind...it's just going to be another part of the game (like Suit/Weapon engineering) that I won't participate in

Do you also collect thargoid data, by the way? Because who knows, maybe engineers will ask for it, one day. But thargoid uplink devices are scannable only once (in a week, I think)60 cooked, 42 to go and my collection of Thargoid scavenger parts is growing all the time.
and you must travel to another site to scan more. Of course you will also receive some data by producing Grelics, automatically.
My hunch is that at some point we'll get inbox messages from Palin and/or Ram Tah thanking us for our contribution and sending us off to do something new (a bit like how Salvation sent dm's to people who'd contributed). Of course as soon as that happens it will be all over the internet within minutes but even so, I'd quite like to see both sides of that play out in-game too and so, for that reason, I've sold some to both. I sincerely doubt that there'll be opposing consequences to selling to one vs. the other since afaik FD seem opposed to that kind of game mechanic.
Good point - I just tried, but it's still blanked from my last scan.
This and also Palin and Ram Tah aren't "competing" for them either. They just both want a look. If Ram Tah gets some experiment results it doesn't mean Palin just throws up his hands and destroys his entire stock in defeat!
Sure. All I meant was that I see no reason not to sell both.
RT has a huge stockpile of Guardian stuff, plus he has research on Salvation's super weapons.
