Uncontrollable Ship Roll

I haven't played in about 8 months but when I left I remember being able to moderate the amount of roll my ship had equal to the pressure I put on the joystick. Now it is all or nothing. Anyone else have this issue or know a way to solve it?

The best example of this would be entering a starport. One was able to match the rotation of the port. Now it has become a jerky tip tap process at best.

2nd issue: when I click to look around in the cockpit and look left the ship rolls with the pilots head.

Sounds like you need to replace your controller as the symptoms read like a stick drift....if it's not old and under warranty, get it replaced. You can fix them yourself if you're handy with a set of screwdrivers and a few tools...but much easier to just bite the bullet and buy a new one or borrow a mates.

I tried a 2nd controller today and had the same issue. Both controllers are original to the system so replacement might be in order regardless.

I'll disable roll to yaw this week and see if that makes a difference. I've also tried other games and there is no controller creep at all.

At this point I'm guessing this is ED update related.

Reading both these replies would suggest it's not hardware related...can you adjust deadzones in the Xbox E-D settings at the menu? I honestly can't remember...

I have wide dead zones and roll to yaw disabled. (PS4)
None of my bindings changed after the update.
They're almost all custom so it would be readily apparent to me.
It's happening* on both accounts of mine, but only periodically.
It's a really rapid roll of ~20+ deg, not the subtle drift.
Pretty disorienting.
I would chalk it up to the hardware but thought I'd chime in to see if a pattern emerges.

*The game kept crashing so I stopped playing for a few days to see if they do a patch.

It sounds like your joystick is sending a digital (on/off) signal rather than an analogue one.
I'm not at elite right now, but from memory there are settings there to take either an analogue or digital input for each of the major axes.
