Undecorated name plates for longer ship names

For reference, have a look at this picture from the store:



By removing the decoration above and below the name, you could write 3 lines of text on the same surface. I am rather surprised that there isn't a plain text-only name plate in the first place, but it makes me sad that the decoration actually wastes space that could have gone towards allowing longer ship names.

It isn't just the pretty printing on the side of your ship. That name has to be broadcast to every other ship in your particular instance. This game has enough problems with networking. Don't go asking it to send your life's story to every ship you encounter.

An undecorated for larger ship names would be awesome too. Nameplates are tiny!

Lol, wot? Your inet cant handle the sending of 10 more bytes? Its not 1972 is it? Just ran a test: doubling shipname would take an additional .000000025 seconds for my internet to download. You probably could send your life's story and I wouldnt miss a frame. [haha] Seriously though: Its more a restriction based on HUD space.

Yeah a plain name plate I might use myself, but I was hoping a 'default' plate was included with the feature with other cosmetic ones for sale as players wanted. Unfortunately doesn't seem to be the direction Frontier wanted to take on this feature

Didn't the teaser trailers show a "hand written" ship name without any extra decorations?

I'd love a minimalist one as well, in several font styles.

I don't mind the micro-transactions in the least. The game needs an ongoing revenue stream, and this is a nice example of how to do it. These prices don't break anybody's budget.

Still, would be nice to have a plain option.

I would definitely prefer straight forward undecorated plate names. i`m one of those people who don`t need all that flannel.

Also a very basic `painted` hand style would be nice too.

The hand painted style is what I was most looking forward to. I think it's probably coming in the future.

i'd buy an undecorated nameplate.

but i was quite surprised that i was able to name my Orca school bus 'A Most Elusive Fish' using the standard plates
