Powerplay Undermining and 2.4

I'm a relatively new player, have only been playing a couple of months, and have spent very little time on the forums. But I was watching a video from ChaosWulff about how the Suicidewinder "exploit" is going away, and being replaced by a system where your rebuy/bounty (?) is equivalent to the rebuy of the most expensive ship used in your "crimes".

Now... getting a bounty on you when undermining is par for the course unless you undermine in anarchy systems, but I actually like to contribute to the faction who is paying my paycheck at the time. It's pretty easy to build up a hefty bounty and have hunters chase you in every system you visit. And of course, defending yourself against those bounty hunters will just create another bounty, which will bring more hunters, which will increase your bounty, etc. etc. etc... This can all be removed, at this time, buy "suicidewinding". But that's going bye-bye.

So now what? Go and do undermining and live with the week long bounty?

Something needs to be done in this regard. We need to be able to set our faction to our chosen leader via the right screen, like we can set it to one faction or another when doing CZ. Then it'd be an act of war, and the "bounty" as it were would belong to our faction, not to us, when destroying an enemy ship.

Otherwise undermining is just going to dry up... right? Or did I miss something important in all this?

In your scenario there would be no player involved, so I guess it would still be a local bounty (as they are right now)? It appears that you won't be able to get Pilot Federation's bounties from NPCs. Even if suicidewinders were not good to get rid of those anymore it wouldn't be the end of the world. Quite a number of people don't even clear their bounties now when it's easy to do with no consequences really . In any at least mildly engineered ship NPCs are just not a serious threat, no matter of pilot skill level. Bounty hunters in other systems would still get themselves wanted by attacking you and honestly there are worse things than living with a bounty for a week for being a mass murdering terrorist. Imo there isn't really much point to even fight the bounty hunters in many scenarios, just high wake away unless you want to really get something done in that system.

Unless superpowers or powers themselves issue bounties, I can't really see this being a problem unless you want to cover your tracks like some underminers do, or have a small ship. When I used to mega stints of BGS work I'd be wanted in 40 odd systems, and was hostile to Feds and Imps and nothing really happened. I just lived with the continual BH attacks.

SHEPR0N> bounty hunters are a good source of money. Its possible to farm them and make a profit as they try to hunt you.

Really? Most of the ones coming after me don't leave me with much more than the ~400 Credits fine they get for assault. Not really worth bothering with Elite Condas imo :D

If the system you are in has a CZ, drop into it. Now, since CZs are technically lawless you can kill that annoying bounty hunter by choosing a side before he shoots you- just remember that the side you pick cannot be the same as the bounty hunters faction.

Now, scan the hunter for bounties if you wish too and kill him/ her. If all goes well, you will get paid a combat bond for the idiot BH and any bounty on them too. If you are R5 Utopian or ALD / Hudson R2 (?) this will be doubled again.

As an example, FdLs pay out about 36,000 credits basic. When I was an R5 Utopian showing the benefits of Utopia via my guns I would often get 150,000 each time. The most was about 1.5 million.

So in short, you use CZs as portable anarchies.

Ah yes you are right of course I completely forgot about that! Actually experienced that a couple times, I find it amusing that FDLs apparently have their own unique combat bond value even though those ships never spawn in any combat zones.

I am on that boat where people show off theire bountys acquired by undermining with pride. Suicidewinding was never necessary in powerplay. Bountys on my head never itched me. NPC bountyhunters are a mild annoyance that go with your "reputation".

If I stayed in a ship that could take a hit I wouldn't be too upset about NPC bounty hunters either. But I'm commonly switching ships between my many combat ships (anything from an iEagle, Viper IV, Courier, Vulture, APA Python and Conda) to either my miner/trader Python or my super-light AspX.

The other day I made the mistake of going to Quince in my AspX in open and got interdicted. Forgetting I was in open, and not realizing it was another player, I took the interdiction, expecting I could just sit there for a couple seconds, then boost away and hit my FSD. Nope, it was another player, in a Beluga no less. They dropped me to 5% hull in seconds (like I said, super-light AspX). Luckily they sent messages about Beluga kisses before jumping away and left me to limp on to the station.

But regardless, something needs to be done, preferably exempting PP from C&P all together. It's war after all. War shouldn't have bounties on the individual soldier.
