Underrated gem of a space sim - Evochron Legacy

So after buying $60 worth of Horizons and playing for +15 hours, I've become rather disheartened at the sim and overall aspect of the game as a whole. It's more of a console arcade gamey type; it tries to be deep and complete but ends up feeling tacked together and superficial.

This lead me to finding the Evochron series that has amazingly been honed and fine tuned over the years by one individual !!

Evochron Legacy is outstanding; first major plus is there is an actual demo, nicely comprehensive too!!

2nd most noticeable thing are the ship's handling and physics. Inertia actually means something!! I was laughing like a hyena the first time I tried a race; steered like a drunk mule.

Designed for PC, hell yeah!!! HUD and menus with tons of info properly PC sized and UI mouse clickable tidy. SWEET!!!!! I get so sick and tired of consolized bloat or cross platform games.

No annoying loading all the time, every action and travel is seamless with no interruptions.

Sound overall is top notch and has more atmosphere to me.

Shame this game seems to take 2nd stage to the 'masses' of Elite Dangerous and X:Rebirth.

Evochron Legacy is definitely worth a buy at $25.

Your right, you know. Its one great game, so was Evochron Merc and the prior. Lots of detail.

Edit: should just add though. I am playing some X3 Albion Prelude at the moment, that too has lots of depth. The only disappointing thing I have found so far is the sectors have walls...
Not game breaking, but a little off putting.

Annoying loading glitches is an ok price to pay to let me play with friends as that seems to generate the bulk of my Elite fun these days, but the Evochron games are a terrific and incredibly fussy accomplishment from that dev -- what a life's work! It doesn't quite click with me but I appreciate a lot of it very much. I'm sure for some people it's RIGHT up their alley and I'm glad it exists to scratch that itch!
