Newcomer / Intro Understanding Drive specs

I still have the same drive in my starting Sidewinder and I'm now looking at upgrading. The drives' specs list alot of info but not simply the max range they can jump to. Am I missing something?

Hi,

The range will depend on the mass of the other modules fitted on your ship. Easiest thing to do is to select the FSD you want then look at your ship status in the panel next to the equipment screen in outfitting. As you move over the various drives, you will see your range decrease (red; arrow down) or increase (blue; arrow up). It will show max jump range for empty cargo hold and full based on your current loadout

Go for the biggest number you can, you don't want an fsd that is smaller than the available slot size. A size 2 fsd in a size 3 slot would severely reduce your range. After that, letters grade with f being poorest and a being best. D is light and b is heavy.
