Underworld: Ascendent

The only thread for this one is about its kickstarter ending, but I'd rather hear from others who have tried the prototype or the (brand new) pre-alpha. I got the key to the pre-alpha this weekend and fired it up. I really like the art direction, and if the gameplay is going to be this open-ended throughout the game then we may have a new favorite. I knew it was Looking Glass alumni, really it was a. It part of why I backed them (I know, I know, but Elite is proof that sometimes you CAN count on that as an indicator of potential). Uhh anyway, I knew who they were but I wasn't expecting Thief since, well.. I asked them, and they said while they loved thief they weren't planning on turning this into thief. So yesterday, as I fired water arrows into torches, distracted Lizard men and slipped in and out of the shadows, I couldn't help but feel it was a bit familiar, like a favorite shirt. I've tried a few ways to reach the Silver Sapling (the goal of the pre-alpha.. a little slice of what you can expect to find in the final game) and while the open-ended nature of it means there's little hand-holding, I thought it was incredible.

I recorded a bit of it, but sorry to say ive deleted it when I realized my mic was on at... unexpected times :) However I've found a few good streams on YouTube already.

So... who else is playing this one already? Who's coming in at the beta kickoff later, and who likes the genre but still needs convincing?

I backed for similar reasons, but ive pretty much forgotten about the game to be honest - not because of lack of interest but more because my backlog of games is becoming ridiculous.
I read the updates and it sounds like development is coming along nicely, and it's good to hear that the gameplay is good so I'm happy to wait for Underworld to get to a robust beta before i put it on my play list.
