Undiscovered Blackholes?

Yes, there are millions of star systems out there waiting to be discovered, but given the map tells you where there's a blackhole, how likely is it for someone to discover an unvisited one? If you think it's possible, how far from the bubble do you think one would have to go?

Millions? Try billions :D

There are probably untagged black holes within a few hundred lys of the bubble, few kylies tops.

(the map doesn't always reveal black holes, if they're not the primary stellar body then filtering non-sequence can hide them, I've also been in systems where the info tab on the galmap has acquired more black holes once I'd been in the system and seen them)

Pretty much every black hole within 1000ly has been tagged by someone.
I would go so far as to say that quite a few out to 2000ly have been tagged as well.

That said, you might still find one that has been overlooked within 2000ly but you're clutching at straws.

Quite a few on the line between Sol and Sagittarius A* are understandably tagged by others.
If you aim 1000-2000ly left or right of the straight line to SagA* , 10,000ly+ out and 1000ly up or down, you end up in a region of increased density for non main-sequence stars (black holes and neutron stars).
They're nicknamed the Neutron Fields, and there are literally millions of them. More than enough to go around.

I suspect that there are very few values of x for which that is true. Nebulae (excluding planetary ones) maybe, anything else I really doubt it.

I was talking specifically about black holes, like KTC asked. They've been cherry-picked.
There's still plenty of other "regular" systems waiting to be discovered within 1000ly of Sol.

Pretty much all large nebula have been found and all black holes close to human space.

You may get lucky at 3000-5000Ly away and find one that no one saw but for the guarantee you need to travel a bit:
You can find tons close to the galactic core. Sure its a 25,000Ly trip but I've checked off well over a hundred the last few days, all of which undiscovered and I know theres a load I missed too.

I think that's less a case of undiscovered and more one where those that travel that far out don't tend to bother to come back to claim it. ;)

Thanks everyone for your answers.

I love getting a graffiti as much as the next CMDR -- especially on something unique and/or 'spensive. But I think I've made a goal in my head for my future trip to purposely tack away from any tourist destination -- and find myself on the other side w/in mostly/all procedurally formed space.

Rather than search "the gorge" for fields and fields of neutrons and black holes, I want to just find that weirdo one hanging out there w/o many or any others around. I know they have to be out there. And I know I'll go through endless M systems and have to dodge areas of unscoopables to find them. But those will be way more rewarding to find than any in the farm areas.

Sorry if that's an off-topic rant. I'm getting the itch to get out there again and need to dock this stupid pew pew Cobra that I've been trying to up my combat rank with for whatever reason that I promised myself I was going to.

Cobra is a solid explorer with a build like this:

Feel free to drop the cost of the 4B field maintenance unit and even the shield if you feel like risking it. You will have to power down the repair units to use the shield and vice versa but you won't need shields anyway once outside human space.
No need to leave it :)

I've been finding untagged 'B' stars (including a couple of named stars) starting from about half a Kylie from Sol - no untagged BH yet but there will be; I'm cruising between bright stars a Kylie out at the moment, about 100ly below the plane and in a generally 'northwest' direction.

Space, it said, is big. :)

I dare say the obvious ones that show up when you filter the map to show non-sequence stars only mostly have. That won't be all of them, there are almost certainly still plenty lurking out there not being the primary star in some unexplored systems.

I don't think I've managed to find a BH via non-sequence stars filtering yet. They've all been attached to a B or O star. Need to really get better at using the map!

That's a fair point. The problem is they are usually associated with O and B class stars, and they are like flames to us explorer moths. :)

I stumbled on a field of them when I was dog-legging out to SagA*, several hundred of them and I think I put a post up about where they are. It's about 16KLY out and over to the left somewhere as you look towards SagA*

Head to "Hypo Auf AA-A H37" nebula and then drop height to about 1000, can't miss em :p

There are lots of black holes in the neutron fields. Maybe 1 in 10 or 20 "non sequence" stars, which in some areas are only single digit LYs apart. Lots of them still untagged.
