Thank you cmdr's! I think I was was having a moment last night. I had been exploring for hours and lost track of the goal and wanted the undiscovered location. Seemed no matter where I went everything was discovered. Up until last night that didn't matter however i just started fixating on it. Anyways thanks for the suggestions and as always, amazing community
I recall feeling that way, too, and right around the same area. I was in Barnard's Loop when the patch hit that introduced First Discovered By tags and started going over my travel log to discover that I had discovered nothing. When I did finally find an undiscovered system near the Loop I was quite pleased with myself, I even started up a separate log for tracking discoveries.
So, for contrast:
In my current trip I have several
thousand systems that are undiscovered. I just left a little non-planetary nebula that was almost completely untagged. And I'm not in a rush to get home and sell the data in order to secure the Discovered By tags because at this point I have to face the reality that I have passed a threshold beyond which it is no longer feasible to track them
or even to verify them after selling.
And it's going to be at least a couple hundred real life years before we pass a tipping point where a journey like mine will be anything but trivial to reproduce.
