Unfinshed game? No.

PLEASE STOP SAYING THE GAME ISN'T FINISHED, it shows how entitled and ignorant you are. ED IS AN MMO. Please show me 1 just 1 MMO that had all the bells and whistles on it day 1 of release.. hint hint THERE IS NONE! The game is what you would call "vanilla". If you ever played another MMO in vanilla (wow, eve, insert others here) and compare it to what the game is today, they've become almost unrecognizable. This is because an MMO evolves and develops as time goes on and new content is added. This isn't some crap "AAA" title like COD where you get the "full game" day 1 and get "new" content in the form of a DLC map for 20$ (which they took out of the main game to resell to you ;) ). For all intents and purposes the GAME IS FINISHED. Claiming otherwise just shows your ignorance in the ways of how an MMO is developed.

TL;DR If you're crying the game isn't finished, then you have no understanding of how an MMO develops and evolves.

..this deserves some rep :)

Though if FD keep working and adding large updates to ED, it is unfinished, right? A game being finished does imply that there are not going to be any major changes done to it.

Would be better to say ''Please stop saying the base foundations of the game aren't finished''.
Of course, that is pretty subjective.

Finished implies it has all the core features at launch. Adding new content or fixing bugs, doesn't mean it's not finished. ALL GAMES HAVE BUGS, and under your logic of "if they're still working on it/new content = not finished" then by that definition just about every game ever designed was released "unfinished"

This game is GA - Available for the public to buy.

Finished means you reach a goal or a milestone.

Which finish are you referring to? Planetary landings is not finished

no mmos are finished at launch is actually why WoW continues to be the bastion of success that it is, the days when you can release an unfinished mmo are over, and have been since burning crusade was released to be honest.

for modern mmos its, Release unfinished game > Promise Earth > don't deliver > Go f2p. I mean go look at a list of mmos it describes almost every one of them lol.

Well, you know, most games have pretty much everything done when finished. Even today in the age of DLC and a blurry line between pre-release and release, there's still a lot of games that simply are finished when released and do not get more than a few bugfix patches, if even that.

And I would say Elite lacks a lot of core features, if you say that core features are what's in the DDF and not part of the expansions.

MMO= massively multiplayer online. Just because you can only get 32 players per instance doesn't make it any less of an MMO. Its MASSIVE (as crap) Multiplayer (duh) and online.. So how is it not an MMO? :p

Arma 3 maps are MASSIVE, it has 120 player instances and is online... It's still not an MMO (duh) :p

Have you actually done any research in regards to planetary landings? That was NOT one of the features expected to be released with the game. It is coming in an expansion pack (dlc if you will... all new content is free for kickstart backers) so your claim of "no planetary landing = unfinished" is without merit.

instead of calling my claims silly how about you post some actual evidence that it is as you say, not an mmo?

The game world is massive. The game is however not massively multiplayer. I am growing tired of having to point out this falacy. Adjectives and adverbs have different functions from one another, you should learn these differences.
Also, and more importantly, the gameplay is ridiculously uninvolved.

As to your initial post: show me the MMO that asked for 60€ at release while providing as little content and gameplay as Elite does.

But but... ED is not an MMO anymore... Didn't you get the memo and notice they removed all the MMO names from the marketing material (except for one they forgot)...

It's funny how the white knights suggest ED is not an MMO when the critics compare it to other MMOs and discuss multiplayer architecture and mechanics and then the same guys claim it's an MMO when the critics point to the lack of content and unfinished state of the game.

You guys need to up your game just a tad. Could we get the white knights level 2 please... too easy

Technically it is...
  1. A massively multiplayer online game (also called MMO and MMOG) is a multiplayer video game which is capable of supporting large numbers of players simultaneously. By necessity, they are played on the Internet.

I'm pretty sure the 'massive' in MMO has absolutely nothing to do with the size of the game play area...

It is Massively Multiplayer as in a lot of players together...

I'll consider ED out of beta and a being an actual full release after the 1.2 patch (and the following hotfixes). Then we'll finally get some proper multiplayer support as opposed to the current 'single-player within an environment populated with players'.

From there on in, further updates is adding to a full release - more contents, new features, refined mechanisms and so on.

If this game is finished then it's a pretty bad game.
Again, i reiterate, finished implies all CORE, repeat CORE. features are added and major bugs are removed.

MMO's evolved and develop as new content and features are added.

what is an mmo?

Agreed

Once the Wing mechanics are set up and players can share items and bounties, it will be a much more complete game. Though I think anyone looking for massive, story-driven space battles is playing the wrong game.

I do have to agree the crappy multiplier support shouldve been fixed before day 1.
