Unidentified debris

I'll start this off by saying I'm not getting very excited about this, and I don't know that anyone really should. But I'm posting it here because I can't place this debris and haven't run across anything quite like this before. Hopefully someone else here has and can set me straight.

Location information is as follows:

SMOJAI OY-R B20-D A 6

High metal content world, POI as I flew over the surface looking for elements for jumponium. I landed and got a strong signal return on my wave scanner that I don't remember seeing before. It gave me a sort of wide strong bar near the top of my readout and continued to be a strong signal until I rolled up to it and found this...

There was no cargo as I might find from a crashed ship, no escape pod, nothing. Nothing salvageable, but the debris was clearly the source of my signal return.

It does kind of look like what I expect crashed ship debris to look like, but most times I can identify the make of the ship based off of the shape of some of it. Not this time. I just can't tell.

Once again, I'm not claiming to have discovered anything amazing here but I'm curious who has also run across something like this?

I have seen similar in my travels, but only when well outside the bubble. You are right with the wave scanner, it does show a different signal. There has never been any cargo or anything to shoot at. So my guess it is either the remnants of a crashed ship, or perhaps a crashed Thargoid ship ?

I've found something like this when i visited Waypoint 7 (GREAE PHIO LS-L C23-221 1 B) of Distant World :

Maybe it's the remain of an unlucky explorer after a "Oh, forgot to power-up shields..." landing ?

Yeah I've seen a few POI's like that, they are just wreckage with no cargo or anything else. They are just there for show mostly. I wish we had more of a variety to POI's on planet surfaces.
