Unidentified Signal Source oddities

When travelling towards an Unidentified Signal Source, why do others suddenly pop up? It ca take a good while to find one, in sparse systems, then when I find one and head towards it another one or two will pop up, I then have to choose which one to go for....it seems an odd way for them to work, does anyone else find this?

I think they are generated on a random spawn timer. They don't exist in real space but are spawned with a probability that varies according to where you are. In busy systems they appear more regularly - particularly on "trade lanes". An interesting observation, the distance they appear from you is related to the speed you are travelling at, so if you don't want to waste time travelling to the latest spawn, just minimise your throttle in supercruise and the next spawn will appear at 1000 km or less, meaning you can instantly drop out of SC into it.

same here, and once you visit one, the others are gone.

Which Kinda sucks. :(

I had a moment when 3 popped up right next to me, I got all excited and planned on running them all, jumped into the first... nothing except an NPC Clean Hauler... jumped out and the other 2 had vanished.

You don't have to find them. Drop to minimum speed in SC and they will find you. This can cut down the amount of time you need to fly to them considerably as they will spawn around you, allowing you to drop out directly into the USS. This also that the effect of dramatically cutting down the chance of being interdicted while flying to a USS.

You can farm USS easily near planets as they appear very close by and your speed is lowered by the planet's mass. So you can often insta-jump into them.

They are RGS. Randomly Generated Spawnpoint. If you ask me, they don't make any sense at all. But wait, because someone will come and explain in a post, that there is no other way to implement random loots and unexpected dogfights and if we don't like them, we should go play another game.
