Unidentified Signal Sources and black box missions.

Hey up,

Not been able to play for ages (2 years) and now just getting back into it.

When I left USS didn't give more information when you got close.

Now trying to do a black box mission (as was exploring the sector anyway) but most of the USS are resolving as "Non Human Contact" and are full of thargoids.

Is the black box likely to be in one of these or am i looking for something else?

Go to the systems nav beacon and scan it and you'll get a target body in the system around that body you'll find a mission critical signal source and you'll find the black box there

I tried disco scanner as i thought it had the same effect, will check out the nav beacon.

Discovery scanner works if you have an advanced one otherwise the range is generally to short

And word is advanced scanner is going away and some new system will replace it. No idea if it will still be as easy and convenient as honking but I hope it is. Not too happy with what I've seen about the new mining compared to the current mining laser system and I'm hoping the replacement for the advanced scanner doesn't also add unnecessary tasks to accomplish the same thing we used to accomplish with a simple honk.

Is this the new mechanic about fireing probes?

Kinda looking forward to it depending on how it works.

At the moment scanning unexplored planets can get pretty boring, and if it highlights places on interest (barnacles etc) it should be fun.

Nav beacon or ADS will give you the location then you go there and cruise around for a bit until mission signal appears.

They float about just outside the bodies blue ring for the ones I've done anyway.

Watch the threat level! I got jumped by a conda and 4 vipers on threat level 4.
