Uninstalling ED

No, im not leaving. :) Just wanted to make sure about the save and settings as im reinstalling ED to another drive.

Anyone know where the save and the settings files are so i dont have to rebind all controls etc? Would be awesome if i could copy only them and uninstall ED completely. Looked for info on the ED site where you download the client but there was no such info there. Thanks in advance. :)

Do we need to start over if we uninstall/reinstall Elite Dangerous or is the save stored online? Or is there a save file somewhere on our PC?

Good question. I've a new PC to build in a week or so, and I'm already vaguely dreading doing all the key bindings again.

Copy over your bindings folder/files from .....

C:\Users\INSERT USER NAME HERE\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options ......... to whatever back up you want ( I copied my over to my googlemail account as a secondary back up.) This will save all your input mappings.

Uninstall the game, reinstall wherever you want, copy over your bindings to the same directory after reinstall.

All other variable settings (gfx etc) should be easily re-done within the in-game interface.

As far as I am aware, outside of the install folder, there is only stuff stored under the User folder, things like your preferences, keymappings etc.

Im looking through the folders now and ED is everywhere. Documents&Settings, USER/Local and USER/Roaming with more than 1 folder. I can see folders and files for the saved options/settings there, but there are more folders and files that i dont know if i should keep or get rid of... I might do a full extermination if no one knows. I can only find 1 file with the word "save" in it as well, but it seems to small (1kb) to be the actual save. Dont know if this is stored online? If the save is ok then i could go ahead, but not knowing if my save get wiped is a bit scary. :)

Cheers Aussiedroid. I found everything, but not sure what to keep and what to delete. If keeping the ".TRD" files will mess the game up when reinstalling i dont know. And if they are connected to the saved settings etc... No idea. About the save though, is it stored online?

Keasy, cheers mate. I found those. I guess i keep the whole options folder and get rid of the rest. About that save file? Is it online so no worries about it?

The save file is online, you only really need to save your binding folder, the rest is super easy and quick to set back up hell I got my binds which I renamed to t16000m saved in my document so if there is fk ups I don't need to redo them.

Binding can be found in "C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings\t16000m.binds" note the Frontier Developments doesn't have the underscore between them.

Aaah thank you mate. :) Rep incoming.

Btw the bindings are the ones in the "OPTIONS" folder right? "C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings".

Aye I edited my post with this info as you posted lol

Binding can be found in "C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings\t16000m.binds" note the Frontier Developments doesn't have the underscore between them.

Thanks @Space Dandy. ;)

In the process of installing. I let you know @Henry1491 how it goes.

EDIT: Worked like a charm. :) So just save the "Options" folder located at "C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options" and you have control binds, graphics and sounds settings saved.

Thanks all for the help!
